Snagged from littleroo27

In April 2003 the BBC's Big Read began the search for the nation's best-loved novel, and we asked you to nominate your favourite books.

I've bolded the ones that I know I’ve read (yes there are some titles that I think I’ve read)….

The List )

Oh, I´ve actually read a decent number of these. I´m all impressed with myself now. And, I think you should read some Terry Pratchett ;)

Yeah, I was quite happy when I went through Roo's list and noticed I'd read a fair bit of them *nods*

The Pratchett isn't really calling to me, but I am thinking of reading -- once I've gotten through the pile I've got now -- to read Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist...

Um, baby, sorry about being a little rude but actually, could you consider screening that thread, up to me mentioning the Roo nickname? She´s a bit cautious about her name being out in the open, especially on an unlocked post. bah, I fail.

I actually haven´t read Name of the Rose - hm, should I? It looks a bit intimidating. But, everyone seems to like it. And, as I´ve said, I´m not going to harass you about it but I thought you´d get a good laugh and a fair bit of slashing out of GO.
Oh, and actually, I think the first one is the worst to start with. Figures :)

Done - well, partly ;-)

It certainly is intimidating! It's a big book with a fair bit of latin in it (with translations in the back). I've got a funny story about that, if you want to hear. But it's a book with so many storylines and they all come together and ... guh. Maybe I should hunt it up and reread it again. After the pile... Hmmm.....

Thanks, sweets.

Oh, yep. The latin so isn´t my main problem - not that I understand it, but I´m used to reading multi-lingual books. Tell me the funny story, btw? The intimidating part is how huge it is... and, hm, the fact that I´m not really fond of mystery books, and I´ve been spoiled about the ending, to that. Clearly though you do need to reread it :)

Well. I was at uni doing the re-read and I would bring it with me and read it in the Underground. This one time, I'm reading the book and have my finger between teh pages at the end, where the Latin translations are. This lady is sitting next to me and at one point notices me going back and forth. So, she shifts a bit closer and cranes her head to the right, to look at what I'm reading. I noticed and had to bite my lip to not giggle. She kept it up for most of the trip :D I still have fun over it.

I love big big books and mysteries. Have I ever pimped "The Discovery of Heaven" to you?? It's nice and big, too ;-)

Hee :) I love when people are like "hey, what are you reading? let me be totes sneaky and find out. Or read over your shoulder". It can be annoying but most of the time, it´s just ridiculously cute :)

I used to love big books, but now they just take me ages and ages and ages to finish and I feel like the lamest ever /:) and, I believe you haven´t. I actually think I haven´t even heard about it.

Usually I need to bite my tongue in order not to giggle at them ;-) They are, most of the time, so very obvious :D

It's by one of my favourite Dutch authors and it combines most of his themes, including architecture (yes I know how to interest you heh). Anyway, I found a description of it here on Amazon.co.uk... *tempts*

Exactly. Or, you know... every once in a while, I´m painfully obvious. Good for me I usually read faster than the person flipping the pages.

Ahahahaha, sneaky you! It looks interesting - I´ll definitely give it a go if I come across it!

Heeeeeeeeeeee!!!

*winks* but you knew that already... I'd honestly be surprised if you were to come across it though...

Oh, I suppose I do. It´s fun - you´re such a sweet, sweet girl, but such a sneak at heart! :) Well, I think it´ll be more like coming across it after looking it up in the central Prague library once I sign up for it :)

Well, that certainly is a way to come across it ;-)
