Far away from home
Prologue
He hold Nick's eyes with his own as long as he could, but soon the creatures closed their circle around him.
They attacked. When he lost the pair of blue eyes, he lost everything which reminded him why he was there, dying.
At first, there was a painful hit which threw him off his feet and he fell to the ground. As he did, the air was forced out of his lungs and he couldn't take a new breath. the next was the sharp pain in his left shoulder. He didn't want to, but he saw from the corner of his eyes that his left limb was torn apart.
He shut his eyes against the unbearable pain and the horrific and disgusting image.
The pain caused shock in his body and mind, but ironically he was aware of it.
It happened so fast, but too slow in the same time.
His mind desperately reached for something to hold onto.
The last thing he saw as the darkness enveloped him, was a face...
The face of a soldier who died not so long ago...
"Ryan..." He whispered using up his last breath...
Last things are always followed by first things, right? So after his last breath he took his first one with a huge difficulty. His lungs ached like hell, just like his throat. His brain, which first priority should be keeping the body safe still couldn't functional properly, but something from outside his body forced his organs to work.
After a while his brain caught up with his struggling body and the fight calmed down. However his consciousness was still far away.
Time passed without mercy, but finally there was something which made him open his eyes.
There was a huge white blurring with some black spots, so he preferred the darkness to it.
Sometime later he tried again with a little bit more success, but the fourth time was the best.
He looked around a bit, because he still couldn't turn his head. He noted a white ceiling, white walls, lots of monitors with thousand numbers, a window, a woman, a door, a wardrobe like thing.... Wait a minute!
He focused his eyes on the only human being around him. She had brown eyes, just like...
"Jenny?" He croaked. He noted that he had an oxygen mask on his face. She still seemed to understand him though.
The woman with Jenny's features smiled sadly at him and shook her head.
"I'm sorry, but I'm Claudia"
