well, three of you gave me the go ahead, and no one mentioned being scared off by textures, so i'm going ahead and posting them. ^^ but to make things interesting for those of you watching this comm solely for the icons, i've whipped up a few sample icons to accompany each of the sets. while i'm only posting three previews of each, i'll be posting ( Read more... )

you use Photoshop, right? if they're using PSP, it should be mostly translatable (i use PSP, but i'm usually able to figure out most PS tutorials, unless it's something really complicated, lol.)

ah, poo. i had found a good tutorial on blending like five minutes ago and now i'm not seeing it. but i found this, which has a brief explanation of what blend modes do in the comments. i'd suggest cropping an image, making a few duplicate layers of it (there should be a button or command somewhere that says "duplicate layer," in PSP it's right above the layer preview box.) and then changing the blend modes to see how they work. though i think it'd be easier to figure out what i was talking about with visual aides, lol. *not articulate at all*

oh, i just found Photoshop Elements on this computer, lol. okies...assuming Elements is similar enough to the version of photoshop you're using, the duplicate layer thingy is under the Layers command at the top. i dunno...is any of this helping? lol. i think i might just make you a tutorial afterall; i'm kind of sucking at using my words today. XD
