My Team Fine McShep Match interview is up
here. Also, I promised that I would answer last year's questions from my flist and I decided to do that here at my journal, so Q & A under the cut if you're curious.
melagan asked:
How do you get your story ideas?
Prompts, photos, art, emotions, memories… you name it, I can probably get a story out of it. I love using photos and art - one of the reasons I've always supported
artword and the SGA Reversebang. I'm a big one for the "redux" as well. I like to "base" idea on old sci-fi or horror themes I've read, shuffle them up, add John and Rodney or the Team, and see what comes out. And then there are the enablers...
What is the most satisfying part of doing artwork? Or is it different with every piece?
Honestly, seeing the way folks react to it. Again, it's one of the major draws of the Reversebang. Seeing how many people will choose a certain piece, because you know if 12 people have your art on their list, there are probably 12 entirely different stories brewing. Art is subjective - I love that. And, as Rod Stewart once said… Every picture tells a story. I believe that and, sometimes, it's enough to express myself with art instead of words.
When are you going to work on another story with me?
Soon! We're gonna do that soon, right??
syble4 asked:
1) What would you have like to see in season 6?
2) What plot line in the show would you have liked to see explored more?
3) Would you have like to see the writers, given the time, explore more of the Vegas universe or explore multiple other universes.
Combining 1, 2, and 3, I think a Season 6 could have been devoted entirely to the consequences of the Vegas 'verse. After EatG, our crew could have found themselves landing in the San Francisco of another reality - Sheppard could have remained on the Earth reality of EatG. Detective Sheppard could have been rescued and become the John Sheppard in whatever reality Atlantis needed him most - namely the one where his team is missing a Sheppard. They could have "jumped realities" in this way as missions throughout the season making sure the Wraith threat was kept away from Earth. During these missions, we could have seen different incarnations of the team makeup, how Todd fits into the plan, the interaction between Detective Sheppard and Todd… and the season arc could have ended with the reunion of John Sheppard and his team, with it having been Detective Sheppard's last act of heroism that made it possible, thereby redeeming himself in his own eyes.
4) What is your favorite color?
My favorite is black. When you add black to things they become more somber, more adult, more mature, aged, etc. It's not like those upstarts Teal, Magenta, or Canary Yellow or the snooty Ochres and that aloof Vermillion - though you know she'd be a real hoot if you could just get enough wine in her. On the other hand, black needs brighter colors to lift it - even to change it to gray or a muddy green. I like Black because it's a singularity, a force all its own, and let's face it, in the big Crayola 64 box of life… nobody's gonna fight you for the black. ;)
hickman1937 asked:
When so many Authors dropped out of this fandom in 09 why did you stay?
Because I still had stories to tell and still had so much to say about these characters. At that time, I'd only been writing for a short while and didn't really fancy myself a writer in the same sense of the word. I'm much more serious about it now and feel I know the characters much better. I'm still here for the same reasons… I still have things to say. ;)
