TV: A Gentler Sedative

Jul 23, 2008 14:23

Last night was a total TV flop because Kitchen Nightmares was a RE-RUN.  But tonight is Wednesday, which means SYTYCD!!  Hummanah-lujah, man.

Today I have done NO writing, am stuffing myself with guacamole and chips, and will veg in front of the TV tonight.  Gotta LOVE days like this.  Because you know they won't last.  This weekend is my soon-to-be seven-year-old's birthday and I am planning a karaoke party for about fifteen kids.  When I asked my almost-7-yr-old what she wanted for her birthday, she said simply: a laptop and a cellphone.

Excuse me, but WHAT??  When I was turning seven, there was NO SUCH THING as computers and cellphones.  We called them "car phones."  *clutches belly in uncontrollable fit of laughter*

Anyway, I totally blame me and hubby for this.  Him, mostly, and my mom a bit too (because that's part of her job description).  We have no cable and we are completely unconventional, tattooed weirdos that my daughter is already rebelling against by becoming Belle from Sleeping Beauty.  And singing Miley Cyrus songs and gyrating while repeating the line, "Smack that ack and smack it...uh-huh...smack that ack, oh yeah..." that she heard blasting from a passing car.  Obviously, I will NEVAR EVAR tell her the word they're singing is not "ack."

I am going to need a lot of sedatives as she gets older.  Since I'm not much of a drug person, TV and chocolate will have to do.  So...TGIW.  SYTYCD, here I come.
