"You have to wear something that's appropriate for your music and that's appropriate for the event you're at, but wearing sequins and stones, I wouldn't wear that in my clothing on an everyday basis so why would I wear it when I am competing?"

YOU ARE MY FAVORITE :DDDDDDDDDDDDD

I think my favorite part about the sparkly blue chiffon shirt is that Evan designed it himself and then wore it for YEARS.

I knooooow, that's what makes it glorious. Also, you can sort of blame the sequins and rhinestones on skating tradition, but that thing is a whole lot more fluttery than what you usually see in skating costumes, and he has only himself to blame. :D

Oh my god, really? Floaty, fluttery, bedazzled blue chiffon is the artistic expression of Evan's less-repressed inner self?

I desperately tried to find the article that says he designed it himself, but I couldn't find it. It's one of our many canon facts that you couldn't have invented, because people would complain it was too OOC. :D

In this blog the author talks about Evan designing his costume himself and the pictures from the competition are of Evan in the blue chiffon shirt, so yeah it's a another expression of his artistic vision.

ETA: The relevant quote: Evan Lysacek (3 in freeskate, 2 overall) had a good skate, too. My notes are a little confused: I have him down as doing two triple flips in combination and two solo lutzes, so I must have at least one of them wrong. Anyway, 6 triples total, and he appeared to be very happy at the end of his performance. I think the program weighed him down a little -- it's kind of heavy, dramatic techno music, and I think he'd do better with something that lets him show a little more expression. He was wearing a gray shirt dripping with chiffon bits that I understand he designed himself.

No problem, I love collecting the little bits of evidence that prove that somewhere under all that orange and corporate sponsorship, Evan has an actual personality.

I think we now also have the evidence to prove that somewhere under his actual personality, Evan seems to have corporate sponsorship. You've seen the collage he made in high school, right? :D

Lol, this is true. That collage illustrated that Evan's personality is about 75% corporate sponsorship and 25% inspirational phrases.
