New Everything...
So I bet most of you didn't know I had a livejournal, guess it doesn't really matter since 80% of my entries are private entries but anyway! It's been way too long since I've written in this thing and lately I've been feeling this urge to revive this journal, I don't know why. I don't really care who reads it or comments on it but if you do read it or comment on it - thank you in advance. If you're not a livejournal member, its okay, you can still leave a comment but just put your name at the end so I know who you are :)
So alright, I have recently finished my FIRST year of college and to this day its still hard to believe. Seems just like yesterday I was excited about the dorms and now...I'm excited about my "new" apartment. I live in an apartment now with three other awesome people. (Kelly, Emily and Shelby) They'll probably be mentioned a lot in this thing so take note! Hehe just kidding. I love it here. I have my own room, I have air condition (unlike home home) and we have a Wii (thank you Kelly!), and just the thought of "living on my own" is great.
Since being here I have grown so much appreciation for my family, especially my parents. Of course living in an apartment, food don't just pop outta no where so I gotta cook my own food and to be honest, I don't mind. I realized how "spoiled" I was knowing that when I lived at home, my mom ALWAYS cooked for the family, did the major cleaning (bathroom, etc), and now I'm doing all of that. I felt so weird cooking my own food b/c first of all, I've never cooked before in my life. But each day I'm learning, and cooking different things and I absolutely love it. I realized how stressful it can be at times too, multi-tasking and what not (I feel like I'm in Hell's Kitchen and my own competition is myself haha!) Really tho, in all seriousness, (and I know you're probably never gonna read this mom) but thank you mom for all your hard work throughout these years cooking for the family. Any recipe ideas anyone?
Among another "new experiences", I've never grocery shopped for myself. (putting things in the cart like junk food and candy when we were younger doesn't count!) I'm talking about going to the deli and ordering meat, cut the way you want it, buying vegetables, everything! Did that for the first time today and practically bought out Albertson's haha no just kidding but I did buy a lot of stuff b/c I don't have a car, I need to stalk up on food. (Thank you Em. for taking me!)
And among that grocery list, I didn't buy a single junk food product.
Ok I lie, I bought ice cream.
I forgot to mention that I am taking summer school here at UCI and I love my class. I'm taking Intro. to Criminology and I'm learning about all these niffty types of crimes, and the like. Its really interesting and we actually have a field trip! (Haven't had one since like 5th grade) Next Monday I'm gonna be going to a Men's Prison in Chino Hills and the following Wednesday I'm going to visit a Youth Facility (kinda like juvy I guess?). But I'm really excited --a little scared too --but excited nonetheless. I'll write about how it goes.
Anyway, I don't wanna make this too long so that I can perhaps keep readers haha, tune in next time!
