A/N: It's been almost a year since the last time I updated it. I'm so sorry. So many things happened in RL and distracted me from writing my fics. Once again, I'm so sorry m(_ _)m. I even believed that everyone had forgotten about this fic already. I originally wrote this fic for Sho's birthday and I updated it also on his birthday. Geez, a year for an update. I hope the next update won't be on his 32nd birthday! Anyway, here it is. I hope you enjoy it! :D

Prologue | Chapter 1

Chapter 2

Sho was grinning at himself. He was even humming in a low tone while checking some project reports. And even though he found some mistakes on the reports, he didn’t feel as annoyed as usual. He was clearly in a good mood. He glanced at the hanged picture on the wall and smiled even wider at the framed picture. It was Yuri’s drawing. He decided to frame and hanged it on his office room. Of course he could hang it at home, but he had to admit that he spent more times here in his office than at home. And in the end it was the right choice. The picture somehow could give him more energy to do his works by just looking at it. He never got tired looking at it.

Sho finally averted his eyes from his daughter’s drawing, continuing his works, but his mind was recalling the same night he got the picture from Yuri, the night when he went out to have a drink with Ohno. Suddenly he felt the urge to go out with the older man again. He really wanted to tell Ohno about Yuri and so many other things. Talking to him made his mind felt lighter. He didn’t get why he wanted to tell Ohno even just a trivial thing that happened. He had been holding back from sending unimportant mail to the older man, but somehow the urge became unbearable now. He reached out for his cell phone but before his fingers even touched it, it was vibrating twice, indicating that he received a mail.

He quickly flipped it open to read the mail. But then he unconsciously let out a disappointed sigh when he read the sender’s name. It was from Aiba, telling him that he had to help the pet shop owner to pick up some new dogs so he couldn’t cook them dinner tonight since he’ll be late. Sho typed the reply and sent it before putting the device on the desk and leaning his back to the chair.

He tried to convince himself that he didn’t wait a mail from Ohno. But it seemed useless since he knew so well that he wanted a mail or a call from the older man. He was straightening his back before getting back to his works when the phone was ringing.

“Yes?”

“Sakurai san, there’s a call from your daughter’s school for you,” his secretary told him trough the receiver.

Sho’s heart skipped a beat hearing that the call was from Yuri’s school. The school hardly ever called him before.

“Thank you, I’ll answer it,” Sho said before pushing a button on the phone. “Sakurai is speaking.”

“Ah, Sakurai san, let me introduce myself, my name is Miyamoto. I’m your daughter’s PE teacher,” a deep male voice answered.

“Thank you for always taking care for my daughter, Miyamoto sensei. If I may ask, is there something wrong?”

“I’m sorry to let something like this happened, but, uhm, we had dodge ball practice for PE today, but an accident was occurred. A ball hit Yuri chan’s head and she fell unconscious now.”

Sho abruptly stood up from his chair, and his heart was beating so fast.

“Is she alright?”

“Well, she is still unconscious up till now, but our infirmary doctor has assured that nothing serious occurred. It was just a shock that she hasn’t regained her conscious.”

“I’ll go pick her up now. Thank you for informing me, Sensei.”

“I should be the one who apologize to you to let something like this happened. I’m really sorry, Sakurai san.”

After a few of exchange greetings, Sho rushed out from his room, informing his secretary that he would be going out for a while just to be stopped by her before he could go further.

“But you have an important meeting after lunch, Sir,” she reminded him.

“I’ll go back before the meeting. But I really have to go now!”

His secretary couldn’t stop him any longer. She just shook her head slightly at his boss antic.

Sho parked his car not so far from the school. He ran all the way to the school building. Once he got into the building, he accidently bumped into someone until both of them fell to the ground.

“I’m so sorry. I was in a rush, so-,” Sho quickly apologized when he finally got to see the person he bumped into.

“Ohno san?!”

Ohno also finally looked up at him and had the matching startled face like Sho.

“Sakurai san? What are you doing here?” Ohno stood up from the ground and offered a hand to help Sho in process.

“I- my daughter is attending this school,” Sho was still shocked at the sudden development. “Is this the school you working at?”

“Yes. Why are you here, though? Is there something happened to your daughter?” Ohno asked.

“Ah! Yes! Where’s the infirmary? My daughter got into some minor accident and fell unconscious,” Sho explained shortly.

“Oh my. Here, follow me,” Ohno led the way to the infirmary. No one talked through the way to the infirmary, even though both of them had so many questions floating in their mind.

Finally they reached the infirmary. Ohno knocked the door a few times before letting both of them in to the room.

Inside the infirmary, there were a young infirmary teacher and a guy wearing jersey who Sho assumed as the PE teacher.

“Sakurai san? Thank you so much for coming. And I’m really sorry to let something like this happened,” the PE teacher bowed deeply to Sho.

“It’s okay Miyamoto sensei. It was an accident, right? So it’s okay. How’s my daughter’s condition?” Sho averted his eyes from Miyamoto sensei and found his daughter lying unconsciously on the bed. He rushed to her side and stroked her hair lightly.

“Fortunately, nothing serious occurred. She will have a bruise latter but I can assure you that she’s alright,” the infirmary teacher smiled softly at him.

Sho let out the relieved sigh and still kept on stroking his beloved daughter’s hair.

“I’ll take her home for today. Is that okay, sensei?” Sho turned to ask Miyamoto sensei.

“Ah, yes, of course. I’ll tell her homeroom teacher about this accident.”

“Thank you so much, sensei,” Sho bowed slightly to him.

“Uhm, since it’s still in the middle of the class hour, I need to go back now.”

“Ah, yes. I’m sorry for taking your time, sensei.”

Miyamoto sensei left the infirmary. Sho accidentally met Ohno’s gaze and was about to say something to the older man when Sho’s cell phone was ringing. He mumbled a soft apology before answering it. It was from his secretary, once again reminding him about the important meeting he needed to attend to. Sho tried to postpone the meeting but in contrary, he was scolded by her, telling him how important this meeting was. Sho sighed and promised his secretary that he would attend it before ended the call.

Sho once again let out a deep sigh before turning to Ohno and the infirmary teacher.

“I need to attend a meeting in an hour,” Sho said, more to Ohno actually than to the infirmary teacher. “But I can’t leave her alone at home with her state now.”

“Uhm, Sakurai san,” Ohno started, “would you like me to accompany her while you attend the meeting?”

“Eh? But don’t you have classes now?”

“To be honest, no. I just ended my last class for today.”

“Really? Thank you so much then, Ohno san! You don’t know how much I owe you because of this!” Sho’s eyes sparkled once he knew that he could leave Yuri in Ohno’s care.

“It’s okay. I just couldn’t leave one of my students in this state alone,” Ohno smiled reassuringly.

‘Ah, so it’s because Yuri’s his student. Of course it is! What am I hoping for? Silly me!’ Sho smacked himself inwardly and tried to compose himself.

“So, can we go now? It’s not that I want to rush you, but the meeting place is kind of far from my house,” Sho said while he carefully lifted his daughter and carried her in his embrace.

“Ah, I’ll take my things and also Yuri’s. Can you wait at the front for a while?”

“Sure. Thanks for picking Yuri’s bag,” Sho’s smiled at him and bowed at the infirmary teacher before heading out of the room.

“Sorry for making you wait so long,” Ohno appeared next to Sho with his own belongings and Yuri’s bag in one hand.

“It’s okay. Let’s go now,” Sho answered with a soft smile plastered on his face.

They walked slowly to Sho’s parked car. None of them said anything. But it wasn’t the awkward silence Sho always had when he was left alone with stranger or some acquaintances. It felt so weird since just a few hours ago he had so many things to tell to the older man, but now none of those came out from his mouth. He felt bad for Yuri because he was kind of happy with the fact that Ohno was at his side now. Of course he didn’t feel happy with the turn of the event, but he kind of feeling grateful to know that Ohno was actually teaching at his daughter’s school. Was it the thing that called destiny?

Sho felt like smacking himself for thinking about anything else but his bruised daughter. He should have been worrying over Yuri instead of thinking about his own advantage. He felt the worst.

Sho glanced at Ohno’s presence next to him with Yuri on his lap. Ohno was stroking her hair softly although his eyes were watching outside the car. It was as if he did it unconsciously. Sho averted his eyes back to the street, slightly smiling in content. He didn’t know why, but knowing that Ohno was so affectionate to his daughter made his heart flutter. When the car stopped at the traffic light, he was once again looking at Ohno and Yuri. After a while of being watched by Sho, Ohno realized and looked back at the younger man.

“Don’t worry, I think she will be fine,” Ohno smiled reassuringly.

Sho once again wanted to smack himself. He was cursing inwardly instead. Ohno was right. He should have been worrying about his daughter rather than being flustered over Ohno. He’s such an incompetent father.

Sho couldn’t say anything in reply. In fact, he didn’t know what to say after being caught for not worrying about his only daughter. Well, technically, Ohno didn’t know what Sho was thinking, but he still felt guilty about that. So he just nodded and let out a small smile at him.

In the other hand, Ohno thought that Sho couldn’t concentrate to the street that he kept on glancing at her daughter. And after he saw his half-hearted smile, he was convinced that Sho was overly worried to the point that he couldn’t smile like he usually did. Ohno seriously thought that Sho was a nice father.

After a while, they finally reached at Sho’s apartment. Sho quickly parked his car and got out from the car to open the car door for Ohno. He leaned in his body to carry Yuri, but for a second, his face and Ohno’s were only a few inches apart. Sho didn’t really take a notice about this coincidence since he was concentrating on lifting her daughter out of the car, but Ohno fully aware how for a second Sho’s face was so close to his. His heart skipped a beat for a moment, but that didn’t last long. Ohno tried to calm his heart down and regained his composure. He convinced himself that he just got startled that Sho was suddenly so close to him. He got out from the car and followed Sho into the apartment building after closing the car’s door.

“I can carry her for you,” Ohno offered.

“It’s okay. I already give you trouble for looking after her after all. At least I’ll carry her to her bed since I can’t be with her after this.”

“You don’t give me any trouble. Don’t worry,” Ohno patted his shoulder lightly, showing his support.

Sho stopped at his door, but then he realized that he couldn’t retrieve his key from his pocket when he was carrying Yuri. He smiled sheepishly at the older man.

“I think I have to pull back my words about carrying her to her bed. I can’t open the door like this,” Sho grinned embarrassedly.

“Here, let me carry her,” Ohno chuckled, taking Yuri from Sho’s embrace.

“Thanks,” Sho said while pulling his key from his pants pocket and opened the door.

Sho entered the apartment, walking directly to his daughter’s room with Ohno tailing him. Ohno gently put her down to the bed, tucking the blanket around her carefully.

“I think I need to show you around, so when you need anything, you already know the places,” Sho said.

Ohno just nodded and followed Sho out to the kitchen. Sho was telling him the places of the usual necessity. Ohno was just following him around in silence, carefully listening to Sho’s explanation. After all of the necessity’s places were explained, they back to Yuri’s room. Sho kneeled beside her bad, stroking her bang away softly.

“Yuri, I’m sorry, but Papa needs to go now. But I promise I’ll be back as soon as possible when the meeting is done,” he whispered softly before kissing her forehead lightly

“Ohno san, I’ll leave Yuri on your care,” Sho bowed slightly at Ohno.

“Sure, I’ll try my best to look after her. Just go to your meeting before it’s too late,” he smiled softly.

“Thank you. Then, I’ll go now.”

“Be careful on your way,” Ohno waved his hand and then Sho had gone to his work.

Ohno sat on Yuri’s bed carefully so he didn’t wake her. He patted the girl’s head lightly and smiled at her.

“You are lucky to have Sho san as your dad, Yuri chan.”
