I saw that Pirate movie. :D
That was... that was interesting. I'm trying to think of how to articulate how it was. Like... some of the things they did I really liked, and seemed to kinda make the characters less like caricatures of themselves. (like NORRINGTON. ... So hot dang. How. Bittersmartsmartsnarkystill in his uniform drunkard um... unwashed... like whoa... whatever, he was hot. ♥.) And Elizabeth got to actually be pretty interesting. And Will... was a dofus. But also a more interesting dofus. And Jack, actually, was kind of a lot less awesome but also a lot more interesting. There were a lot more actual ramifications for actions v slapstick? Something like that. For all that they shoehorned in all the references to the first movie they could get their hands on, it had a really different feel.
See - with Jack... I dunno. I'd have to think about it more. He's more vulnerable? Less of the underdog? Just the fact that it wasn't the first time you 'met' him? Whatever - the main thing is, in the first movie I couldn't see why Elizabeth wasn't attracted to him, and then in the second I didn't see why she was. He had some really great moments, but it wasn't quite the same.
Also, the whole thing (although this might have been because I was tired) had this kind of a dreamlike quality. That is, very strange things happening with kind of sudden cuts and you end up at a completely different sort of place than where you started and when you start tracing back how things went you're kind of befuddled and a lot more happened than you remembered.
Okay, bed. 8D
