Journal layout // Roommate // Summer winding down...
OK... Well, I've been working on customizing this LJ template for a few hours now. Looks like I've got it pretty bearable. It took quite a lot of CSS coding, despite the fact that it's S2. Oh well, I'm not complaining. I'm still floored about receiving two gifts of a year's subscription to LJ. Thanks again, guys.
I decided to take out the userpics on my entry page because, well, I know what they look like. They still show up on Friends pages and Communities though. At least I think they do. I decided that my Elvira mood theme would be a good substitute. I'm still planning on updating my userpic library though. There are so many creative icons out there... Hopefully I'll create a few good ones myself.
So I've cleaned up my apartment... vacuumed, cleaned out the laundry room, scrubbed my tub, picked up some of the clutter around the place. I hope this new roommate isn't a pig. I don't think I could stand to live with a messy person. I miss Josh because he'd keep to himself and didn't go wrecking things. I SERIOUSLY hope this guy isn't some idiot kid who thinks he can live like a slob because this is his first time not living with mama (or an RA). Speaking of his mom, she called me the other day asking what they need to bring down here, and why I was allowed to move in before Nathanial.
Umm... Hello, I've been here nearly two years. She seemed astonished that anyone would live in the same place for so long. I also told her that I was 27, and that I realize Nathanial is significantly younger than I am. She didn't seem to realize that I was saying "I've got my shit together and I don't want a punk ass kid screwing around up here" ... instead, she took it to mean that I would look after her son. She assured me that he's a good kid, but "well, you know how kids can be sometimes."
Ughhhh....
Anyway, looks like I'll be working through the 17th after all. The last day of the semester is the 8th, so I have to have all my grades/evaluations turned in by then. But they want me to stay on an extra week so I can shadow some of the graphic designers. I was kind of worried about leaving the design desk, since I've gotten so close to these people, but after seeing the resources and talent that the art dept. staff has, I'm really keen to spend that last week there. But I guess I won't be getting any time off between the internship and the new semester to visit my folks.
I was actually thinking of taking an impromptu trip down to the Valley this weekend. I get out of work at midnight, which means I can be in the Valley by 4 a.m. at the latest. Then I can leave around noon on Monday and be in SA in time for work. I've got no plans this weekend, except one of my fellow interns' farewell party. But they'll probably be partying while I'm still at work, so I'm sure no one will miss me.
Besides, I hear my nephew is now sitting up, standing along the edge of the couches and attempting to crawl! I need to see this ... that kid is growing up too fast!
