Somehow, the hour I spent at the pool yesterday was enough to give me one hell of a sunburn. I should NOT have worn a polyester shirt today. Ouch.
The roommate and I went out to the pool yesterday because I'd never been in the two years that I've lived at the EX2. Since I'd taken him out to the Showdown Saturday night, he decided that he should take me out there. He's lived at the complex for several weeks and has gone to the pool a few times a week.
He's a pretty cool guy. He's from Massachusetts, and is having a hard time adjusting the pace here in Texas. His first weekend here, he invited his entire building to a party at his place, bought lots of beer, and no one showed up. It really is kind of difficult for an out-of-towner, who doesn't attend our school to break into any social circles. So, anyway... we had a pretty good time. Too bad we'll only be able to see each other during the weekends. Our schedules are exact opposites. He works 8-4 and I work 4-12. But it's cool.
I'm at work now, and I really can't do much. Apparently, CCI is down and that's preventing all editorial stuff from moving forward. There's some nasty weather on its way in too. Wow. What else is new. It's been shitty weather for the past month. I seriously can't believe it's July with all this rain.
I had another strange dream last night. This time, my family was having a Halloween party and I was dressed as a motocross racer. The thing is, I wanted to look more authentic, so I went to this old garage and dug out my cousin's old motorcycle. It wasn't like the ones he had in real life growing up, but it was pretty cool... a small little crotch rocket Yamaha or Suzuki or something. It was red, and I wanted to ride it so bad... Unfortunately, it wouldn't start, and I was afraid my uncles would be pissed at me for not being able to go to the party. I swear, my dreams are getting more and more random each night.
I talked to my mom this afternoon. She got a betta fish from my sister for her birthday. She's incredibly excited about it. She's named him George and filled his vase with golden rocks. The fish is purple. Is it a coincidence that the colors are her old high school's colors? I think not.
Anyway, she was so happy to get him. She talks to him and calls him Georgie Porgie. My mom's kind of strange. When I was hanging up with her, we said, "I love you..." and she asked me "How much?" I was in the middle of break room at work and sheepishly said "To infinity." This is something I used to say back when I was a little kid. Why she decided to bring it up 20 years later, while I'm work is beyond me. But it was kind of cute.
There's also another worry with my gramma. She's got soreness building up on her remaining breast, and so the doctors gave her a sonogram yesterday. The results aren't ready yet, but we're prepared for yet another hurdle. My gramma's health has waned so much since my grampa died, and I don't know if she can handle another round of chemo.
