*sigh* Aww! Interesting take on the scene. Until I read this, it didn't cross my mind that he let her win, though it probably should have. Great job on this! I loved it! And I'd definitely be interested in reading any longer fic you might write. :D

Thanks.

It could have been luck, or Neela knowing Ray always picks rock, because he's a ropck guitar god (hur hur) but I am still thinking about Abby's questions of last week, so I went with this.

Aww if ot became longer fic that would be cool I like you take on this and you are right I never relizedthe rock paper thing and apart from her sham of marrage I call it that because we all know that she really did not want to marry Gallnt,we all know Neela ia kind of like book wait that did not come out right what I mean is that Ray knows her betterthan anyone in the ER Abby knows her as well as Ray but there are things taht Ray knows more of about her and I'm sure there are things that Abby know more about her than Ray.

Thanks!

There was a lot of rational behind him knowing how she plays scissors/paper/stone but it isn't in this. Maybe later, if I can fit a real story around it.

Aw, that's lovely. I love how you reversed the knowing, we've all been concentrating so much on who Neela knows best, but it works both ways. Very complete job in showing why he intentionally lost. I'd love to see you write more in Ray's voice.

Thanks! I'm gaining confidence using Ray, so I need to keep practising.

The "who you know best" thing has to go both ways. Michael may know more about her private hopes and fears - we don't know what is in her letters to him apart from those poleroids! - but in terms of everyday habits, Ray is going to know her. Michael only knows what she choses to reveal to him, Ray is going to know all the different sides to her.

Totally agree. But I like to think Ray is perceptive enough to know more about her fears than she thinks. Confidence is a big issue for her, and he definitely knows about that. I'm also reminded of "Intern's Guide to the Galaxy", when they were talking about his cherry-picking charts and she said she's just slow then. He said she wasn't, just differently abled and not to let Pratt get to her. He later gave her one of his easy charts and though he told her he did because she'd owe him (which was certainly partially true), I think he was also trying to help her out. And there was also the discussion about her leukemia patient running away. I think he learned all kinds of things about her that he filed away for future reference. And I'm sure there have been many conversations at home after tough cases that we just haven't seen. But I'm sure they've happened. Because when you get down to it, when all's said and done - at the end of the shift, they go home to each other. And they're pretty much it as each other's sounding board ( ... )

I think what is interesting is that they were initially set up with her as the brainiac who lacked interpersonal skills whilst he was the charmer who lacked book-larning. So both of them doubted they should be doctors because of that. In the last half season they seem to have done away with that dynamic, which naturally leads the reela-inclined to see it as each other's influence.

And they're pretty much it as each other's sounding board these days.
Especially with the cutback in Neela and Abby scenage. We've had the odd hurried conversation, but no sense of deeper friendships there.
