YOU GUYS! MY CHEM! They were meant to come earlier this year by Gerard was ill and they canceled (it's cool, I couldn't get tickets then anyway). YOU GUYS! This could possibly make up for not getting tickets to Gotye and missing P!ATD this year. Ohmygod.
Apparently Tony Hawk is also going to be there, which doesn't make any sense to me but, you know, whatever, long as I get to see MCR and FTP and Architecture and Soundgarden and, shit, Frenzal Rhomb man. I would also totally, totally not mind seeing Royksopp or The Getaway Plan (it's weird, I swore they broke up, ha). I'm fairly sure Hilltop Hoods played last BDO I went to, but I didn't watch them then either. Probably The Horrors were on, mostly I stopped caring about them when they released State of the Art. Seeing as Kanye's the headline act, I guess I'll have to stay and watch him. You never know, maybe he'll be less insufferable live!
Also, okay, Australian festivals are pretty crap. BDO is the biggest one and it's only one day long, but it's around the same price as most 3 day ones overseas. And it's always full of people who don't care about the music, they're just there to get drunk really expensively and with a nice soundtrack, then faint all over me while I try not to pass out from the obscene heat. Our other big festivals are things like Splendour in the Grass and Peat's Ridge and GTM and Falls Festival, most of which are 3 day-ers, over 18 and tickets are at least $500 (more expensive, again, than most 3 day length festivals, and with maybe half the bands). They're also full of people getting drunk and/or stoned. So.
Basically I complain about Australian live music a lot, but holyshitneedtogotoBDOrightthefucknow.
That's all, I just really wanted to flail about that. Mostly OMFG MY CHEM WHAT IF THEY DO SIDESHOWS OH MY GOD SOMEONE COME HOLD ME SO EXCITED.
