[backdated: for falkor and temrer] meeting the superior dragon

Mar 10, 2011 21:05

Iskierka is often jealous of Temeraire. She suspects that he is smarter and more magnificent than she is, and he is certainly better read (not that she's terribly interested in reading, at least not mostly). However, in the case of another dragon entirely different turning up, all that is forgotten ( Read more... )

The smaller and older dragon is fairly amused by the young, fiery hatchling (though her hugeness, he won't lie, is impressive.)

Nonetheless, Falkor will be looping through the clouds, keeping up with the ease of an experienced flyer who is more at home in the heavens than anywhere else.

Temeraire is out flying over the lake, still hoping, in the back of his mind, that a ship will arrive and Laurence (or Granby) will be on it. He doesn't stay up for too long though and perches on the top of a hill where he can sun and still see the lake.

He's not paying much attention though to the skies...

And here comes an Iskierka, swooping down next to him with a cry of, "Temeraire!" Not even bothering to glance behind her, at least only a little. He'll follow, right?

This strange wingless dragon.

Guess he will! The white dragon surges behind the red one, keeping up at a good pace.

Putting in the header because I need it to help me trace Iski's notifs, hope that's okay. >.>

Temeraire looks up, ruff lifting as Iskierka comes towards him. He's pleased to see the smaller dragon.

At least until the flash of white. Temeraire's first thoughts are of Lung Tien Lien and he's on the alert instantly. Ruff flaring and wings snapping open, he takes on a defensive pose. The low rumble of warning holds the merest hint of The Divine Wind that he's not afraid to unleash if he needs to.

Iskierka knows that, and swerves quickly out of the way, because she does not want to be in the way, though she says quickly, "It is a strange dragon, Temeraire, with questions. I thought you might answer them." She might not realize his association immediately - after all, the point she's taken from she hasn't met Lien yet.

As if, of course, his intelligence is all her idea.

"Hello," Falkor ventures to the yet larger (what is this with oversized dragons, he wants to know) being. "I hope we're not interrupting."

The voice does more to soothe his ruffled nerves and Temeraire stops rumbling and folds his wings a bit more. "You are not," he offers, still wary. Still, the big black dragon moves on his perch to make room for both Iskierka and the strange white dragon without wings.

Iskierka - shows a rare bit of politeness and shifts to allow Falkor to land first, not seeming concerned in the least, however, about the possible interruption. "Of course we were not," she says, "You were bored, Temeraire, I know that you were bored."

"Boredom is a terrible thing," the white luckdragon offers in his aged, bronze-bell-like voice, "and it's selfish, but I hope you were, because then perhaps I can be a distraction."

He coils a little, trying to catch some of the winter sun - hopefully the rock isn't too cold, blargh. "I am Falkor, the luckdragon. It's nice to meet you, Temeraire."

Temeraire snorts at the idea he was bored. As if he couldn't have gone to find something to do or someone to speak with.

Temeraire looks over Falkor with a curious eye. "I am Temeraire, a Chinese Celestial. You have no wings." But he can see some familiar structures in the luckdragon's build that resemble his own kind. It's very faint and one may have to look for it, but it is there.

Iskierka just likes to excuse herself. She doesn't expect that he was really bored. Unless it was because she wasn't there, which would, of course, be entirely understandable. She finds her own perch a moment later.

"He does not know of Britain either," she says, with a certain amount of disdain. Iskierka likes to feel superior to someone.

"I am Fantastican," Falkor explains. "It seems dragons are very different, where you come from." He shits his head, relaxes against the snow. "And I do not need wings to fly."

We swear, that's not intended to be petty.

He's also keen on feeling superior to someone, but the black dragon knows better than to pretend knowledge. Most of the time...

Temeraire's tongue flicks out as he looks curiously at Falkor. "I do not know of Fantasticans," he says. "You truly do not know of Britain? What of France? Or China?"

"Do you have a rider?" Iskierka throws in, unable to keep silent. "A captain? A crew?"

Falkor can't help a quiet laugh, because so many questions! It's like being with two very large hatchlings.

"I have met people from Britain," Falkor replies. "And dragons, of course. But I have never been there. And I had a rider - he's home, now."

That's not to say, Falkor does miss Atreyu, but he knows the boy will be alright. He's stout and able.

And he would like to know what crew are for. Fffff.
