Right, right. I'll come down there...

Where are you?

I'll get help, though.

Oh, don't be so stupid. I'm in my cabin, where else would I be? The level where the washing is done and the cabin with the big door.

I didn't know which one was yours! I'm on my way.

[And after some hurried adventuring, he finds her door and knocks on it.]

[No excuse, Eddie, no excuse. Petronilla had high expectations, and already the young warden wasn't meeting them.

She sat at her table....if "sitting" could also be classified as leaning forward with one's head squarely on the table.]

Come in!

[Not. Getting. Up.]

[He let himself in and nearly tripped clumsily over the rushes on the floor. He hadn't expected that. But he saw his, apparently, new inmate leaning on the table, and he made his way over,]

Petronilla? Is that what I should call you?

[Oh, right, important questions,] What's wrong?

[As Eddie approached, suddenly all the feelings of sick went away. Petronilla raised herself up from the table warily, staring around the room as if some miracle had just taken place.]

Nothing.

[She frowned. That...wasn't right. She eyed Eddie suspiciously.] What did you do?

[Eddie shrugged, equally confused, but feeling a lot more... comfortable in her presence.]

Nothing. I... just walked in. Tripped a little... didn't you say you were ill?

[She continued to stare at him.]

I did, but now I'm not.

[Curious, but she decided not to waste any more time in questioning it. Petronilla rose to her feet, stepping away from young man with a huff.]

Have you figured out why you've suddenly become my warden?

[He frowned a little and put his hands behind his back, trying to be a little polite and cautious,]

No, not really. Doctor Nazarova is now Victor's warden and I'm not sure why.

[He debated for a moment,] Me and my friend have a theory that it's to remind us that we should treat all inmates like we'd treat our own.

We're not sure it'll last, but... I hope you'll find me quite fair.

[Petronilla snorted.] Oh, your friend, a theory - well isn't that just marvellous!

[She stalked off to go fix the braided coils in her hair, thoroughly unimpressed by this new warden.]

First a she-physician, and now a little scholar. Well, little scholar, if you and your friend can't fix the problem, why bother making theories?

We were thinking if we did a good job, we might get put back or something.

[He shrugged, as he hadn't meant to come across as a little scholar. Whatever that meant.]

We were only guessing about it, that's all. [She'd asked for what might be happening, hadn't she? cough. Anyway.]

Anyway, it's very nice to meet you.

It's one of the Admiral's tricks. In a few days everything will be as it was.

[She finished coiling her hair and attached a veil to it, shooting a glance at him over her shoulder.]

Mmn? Oh, yes. Charmed. You can leave me now.

[He looked at the veil a little curiously, but he had no room to talk about odd clothes. He was still wearing the compulsory tie, half-windsored to a fault. That must look just as weird to her.]

Right, right. Tell me if you need anything. Um. Do you and Doctor Nazarova normally do anything together? Dinner or... a walk or something? [He figured, if this was only the Admiral messing around, he should try and keep things... as they were.]

[Petronilla rolled her eyes. She'd actually started watching films with her warden, but she wasn't going to let him know it. She thought of some quip, something really horrible and mean, but then realised that she might be able to take advantage of the situation.]

Yes, actually. [She turned around and smiled pleasantly.] Some nights we go walking through the...[Damn, what was it called?] The CES. I like to take the air up there, though I know it is created by some evil magick. I try to put it from my mind.

[Some nights. Oh beige. He tried not to look too awkward at the idea,]

Well, we can do that, but I'd much prefer to do it during the day. If that's not a problem for you?

It's nice to get outside, even if it is... created somehow.
