Either this is a nasty prank or I'm asleep. Never seen a part of Hogwarts that looks like this, and there isn't any other place it could be. I don't suppose anyone could tell me how to get back to the Great Hall, could they? I'd ask a portrait but there aren't any about.

Oh, sorry. I'm Harry.

Another newcomer. There are a few from your world here.

...This really isn't Hogwarts?

It was, for an event some weeks ago. Most of the time this is Wonderland. It takes you from your own world, regardless of when or where you are, or even whether you are alive or dead, and brings you here.

It was? This place is magic, then?

Yes, but its magic is of a type none of us are familiar with.

James and the others from your world should be able to explain to you better than I can, in that regard. The magic of your world differs again from the magic of mine.

What you said about this place having no regard for the dead...

That can't be true, can it?

It can. It is. I was dead before I arrived here, and I am not the only one.

Someone else - Arland - said it's to do with time being all wonky. People don't actually come back to life, then, they're just from before they died?

Not in my case, or that of any of the others I know. People seem to be taken from any time on their worlds, but I remember dying in battle. I remember my body breaking down.

But you're still dead there.

--Er, sorry, that was kind of insensitive. It's only that I think my parents are here and... well, they've been dead for years.

I don't require sensitivity. As far as I know, I would still be dead on my own world. Here, the living and the dead walk side by side.

Time is of no consequence here. I met once again with someone from my world who had been dead for nearly a year on our world, and had been here for two years when I arrived. If they died yesterday, they could have been here for years already.

Alright. That makes more sense than people coming back to life normally. Not that it's ever normal.

Abnormal though it may be, that happens here as well. Death in this place means nothing. Those who die here are resurrected in days.

That fits, really, if the dead are alive here as well.

Indeed, but it would not be wise to rely upon it. Dying here too many times has consequences.

If you have not yet been told to cover the mirrors around you, I would suggest you do it now. They're used as vantage points to keep watch on us.

Believe me, I have no intention of dying.

Who wants to watch us?
