Food was, in theory, ready. This was because Xander had, in fact, totally cheated -- the only things that hadn't come from the food synthesizer were the coffee and pie. Bridge was currently eyeing said pie, and weighing the problem of getting his gloves dirty versus sneaking a taste.

Z pretty much lived off replicated food, so this was not a problem. "Was I supposed to bring anything?" she asked Bridge nervously. "I feel like I should have brought something."

"I believe the object of Thanksgiving dinner is actually to destroy the scale," Xander pointed out, putting cookies on the table beside mashed potatoes, yams, turkey, That Green Bean Thing Somebody Always Makes And No One Ever Admits To Having Brought and cranberry sauce.
