Xander's sprawled on the couch flipping through one of the few things from FH that made it out of Sunnydale with him: his yearbook. The end of the school semester, like so much this year, sneaked up on him, and it's only now that he's realizing how many people will be graduating - people who in his own head had gone out into the world years ago.
It's a little... huh-inducing.
Bridge
For a week without any classes, so far it's been kind of a busy one, and this is the first real chance Bridge has had since Monday morning to see Xander. Which is why he's knocking on the door to the apartment.
Xander
"Hey, you," Xander says when he answers, yearbook still in his other hand.
Bridge
"Hey," Bridge says, grinning at Xander. "Um, busy?" he asks, glancing down at the yearbook.
Xander
"Just reminding myself how damn young everybody is," Xander says, mostly teasing. He flips to his own photo and points to it. "Well, most of us."
Bridge
"You're hardly old," Bridge snorts. "And definitely not decrepit."
Xander
"Well, maybe not ready for a walker and an oxygen tank yet, no." Xander lets the door fall shut behind him and carries the yearbook into the living room. "Just kind of hit me that people are leaving. Y'know, people I was thinking if as already having grown up, all these years til I got back here."
Bridge
"Yeah," Bridge says. "I kind of hate it, the leaving part," he confesses.
Xander
"No kidding," Xander says dryly. This'll be the second time it's happened for Bridge, and the first was... not so great, was it. "I'm not a big fan either."
Bridge
"You're not going anywhere, though." It's a statement. Mostly. There might be a bit of question in there.
Xander
"No. I'm not going anywhere." Xander closes the book and drops it on the coffee table.
Bridge
"Promise?" Bridge says, moving to close the rest of the distance between them.
Xander
"Long as I have a choice about it," Xander answers, knowing that life doesn't always let you keep that kind of promise.
Bridge
"Works for me," Bridge says, because yeah, he knows that too.
Xander
"Huh, so I guess we now call tonight's meeting of the Deep Thoughts Club to order?" Xander says with a snort, leaning against the couch.
Bridge
"Or we could do something requiring a little less thought and a little more... wow I am not even *finishing* that sentence because it will sound cheesy as hell."
Xander
Xander raises an eyebrow. "I am intrigued by your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter."
Bridge
"Well, I figured we could start off like... this..." Bridge says, and leans over to kiss him.
Xander
"This is a good plan. I like this plan," Xander confirms, when he has a moment of air. "Assuming there's an actual plan."
Bridge
"Mmm, you, me, the bed if we actually make it that far?"
Xander
Xander signals his approval of this detailed and painstakingly thought-out plan by kissing Bridge again.
