Okay this is the last one because I have a short attention span.
Kurt in Camp CAMP IS NOW COMPLICATED. At first it was very simple: Kurt just wanted to go home. He and Rogue have things to do and can’t sit around twiddling their thumbs while everyone else outside is doing all of the work. These are still pretty much his feelings, but he also has other thoughts now that there are all the baby mutants in Camp. There are two big things that make him…actually kind of like Camp.
First is that Camp has people who accept mutants without batting an eye. At first he thought it was a trick! SURELY SOME PEOPLE WOULD FREAK OUT. But then after being in Camp for a while…yeah, we have weird stuff here, being blue and fuzzy isn’t a big deal. At first it was freaking out because his holowatch broke and the people who helped him fix it were not calling him a demon and freaking out, and Cess gave him GENTLE NUDGINGS to get over it and it was just nice to know that people would still like him if he was himself. A bigger step was when he turned off his holowatch because M’gann asked him to, so they could be blue together. HE WAS TOTALLY TOPPED INTO IT but it was a big deal! Some people were surprised, but they didn’t super freak out. And M’gann was his support system of someone else being blue so he wasn’t all by himself. It was nice! He liked it! But old habits die hard. He still wears his holowatch and is unlikely to change that habit, though he is more likely to turn it off if you ask him to. He still got super defensive when dadneto poked him about it, because you have never had to be blue and fuzzy, dadneto. You don’t know my angsty teenage feelings!! And as soon as he starts getting defensive over it, he backtracks and is less likely to turn it off. There is still progress because he thinks M’gann is pretty and will do anything she asks him to. He is topped by pretty girls and no one is surprised.
The second thing that endears Kurt to Camp is that there are baby mutants whose lives suck and they need help. I guess I shouldn’t say this is endearing; it’s more that it gives Kurt a reason to stick around. He has his own problems and is in no way suited to be a teacher or mentor or anything like that, but after hearing that he was one for the baby mutants he wants to try and step up to the plate. He recognizes that their lives were vastly different from his, and it’s a serious blow to him. Xavier’s is supposed to be a place for mutants to be safe! Not someplace where discarded children are thrown and taken to be used as soldiers in a war they never wanted. The concept is so foreign to him, because Xavier’s has been EVERYTHING that’s helped him be able to deal with his powers and be the person he is. And he wants that for the baby mutants, which is not what they’re getting.
Basically KURT WANTS TO HELP BUT HAS NO IDEA HOW BECAUSE HE IS JUST A DUMB TEENAGER HIMSELF, this plan was not thought through at all but he’s sticking it out.
