I'm an avid thrifter so I figured I'd post some of my favorite things.
This is Buddha's home on top of my bookshelf. Buddha was an awesome $5 find from my local flea market. He is quite heavy as he's completely ceramic. (The head ornament did not come with buddha, I just thought it was really cute.) My favorite thing about the Budhs is that he is the PERFECT size to sit in a passenger seat with a seat belt on, which makes him very easy to transport. (This is important since I've moved once every 6 months for the last 2-3 years!) Also, bonus points to whoever finds my thrifted golden pineapple in this picture!
This is also in my little zen display, both candle and holder were thrifted seperately at a flea market.
I found this last weekend! It's copper and is covered in REAL HAIR (lion hair? Giraffe hair? IDK, IT'S SO AWESOME.) It was $7 from Vintage Vogue, which is a concept shop by Goodwill that's being tested in my college town. (Basically it's like Goodwill doing all the hard work of thrifting for you, and compiling its best finds into one place and then marking up the prices. It's pretty dece.) Anyway I'm in an accessories class this year (as in designing and making them, not Legally Blonde style history of polka dots - I wish!) and this thing has attachy bits on the back, so I'm thinking of sticking it on a hat or a purse.
My two ceramic unicorns! I love the facial expression of the one on the right. He's quite clearly thinking, "Derp." These were from a Salvation Army in MA.
This is their home, one on either side! The TV and stand were from Craigslist, does that count ....? Anyway, the carebear down below is from a yard sale. All the other stuffed animals are from claw machines (my boyfriend has an addiction to winning me things from claw machines.)
This little guy is from a Goodwill. Carebear count: 3 (there's one on the left side of the TV that you can't see)
Flowers, vase and heart-shaped candle holder are thrifted! The flea market near me has a ton of fake flowers for some reason.
These flowers are also thrifted, as is the dress form and the steamer is from a yard sale. (it's not pretty, but it's SOOOOO USEFUL OMG.)
This is my little beverage station in the kitchen. I live alone and absolutely do not need 2 coffee makers. In fact, the coffee maker on the left only makes one cup at a time. However, when I saw the bright orange coffee maker at Goodwill, I couldn't NOT buy it, so now I have 2. Also thrifted: the little silver container holding sweetener and creamer, and the container that the tea is in.
Random stuff: Jelly Belly dispenser (it actually works, and costs a quarter, but as you can see it needs to be filled again) silver tray and 2 little containers. I love little containers.
Right now I'm just using this as a container for spices, but I think it might be usable as a cake pan! Thoughts?
Um, yeah. I had to buy this because I love Pokemon and I'm a fashion design major, so it was
like 800% perfect. Plus I actually have a TV with a VHS player built in!
In other Pokemon-related things, my boyfriend and I were Team Rocket for Halloween last year, and both of our costumes were entirely thrifted except the wigs. (We didn't find a Meowth though :( )
This is me actually thrifting at my local flea market. I typically look like this up until the very end of the trip. Kicking myself for not buying that hat, btw.
Omg, also kicking myself (and my boyfriend) for not buying that giant rideable Triceratops. What
is WRONG with us?! This is depressing! I'm having thrift regret! Moving on ...
The tray is from a flea market. That golden pineapple is hiding in this picture too.
This cute little tiny fuzzy leopard set of drawers sits next to my bed to hold ~womanly private things~~. Like condoms. It's really the ideal size for condoms. Also sleeping pills. ~Womanly things.~
I mean, this isn't sexy or anything, but it's hella useful. It's a really pretty leather resume holder. I'm senior so this little $2 find saves my butt at career fairs.
Speaking of school things, this binder changed my entire life. Well at least when it comes to school. I've never been so organized in my LIFE. I don't even need a backpack anymore, this thing has it covered (IT HAS HANDLES TOO.) It has SO many pockets too! I also found a nifty leather briefcase for my laptop, I need to take pics of that too. The Salvation Army here is great for schoolthings - I found like a zillion binders and things there too.
I wish I had a prettier way of showing you these things, but my apartment is not yet set up to where everything is all pretty and whatnot. Anyway, I found this awesome shelf at Goodwill this week (FOR $6 OMG) and I need to figure out where to put it/what to put on/in it. The purses are thrifted (the leopard one is Kathy Van Zeeland!! Love!) More carebears from that yard sale (they were like a quarter each, best find ever) a really cute bright turquoise kleenex holder, another Unicorn head (Unicorn count: 3, Carebear count: 5) and these shoes
That I wear alllll the time from a thrift store in Kansas City.
More shoes! Found these at a store much like Plato's Closet, in Kansas City, MO!
Since we're on the subject of shoes, I have a few more. Let's see - top row, first pair (Red) from a consigment shop in Newburyport, MA. 2nd row, 1st pair (orange) from Salvation Army in NYC, 2nd pair (blue) from a Salvation army in MA. There's the Chinese Laundry and Michael Kors (1st pairs on the next two rows, respectively) and in the last row, the 1st pair are yet another Michael Kors, from a flea market. The rest of the shoes here are all from the Zappos outlet, near my parent's house in Louisville, KY - they have a $3 rack in the back. I make out like such a freaking bandit there.
Oh, you thought I was done showing you my shoes? Hahahahahahahaha no, I have a serious shoe problem. (The REST of my shoes, non-thrifted, takes up about 1/4 of the floor space in my bedroom ....) But anyway, the ones here are all thrifted.
Oh god, my closet. I think about half of my clothes are from thrift stores tbh. At least. That will have to be a whole other post, for now I'll give you this sneak preview of this awesome jacket I got at a flea market:
Clearly I am a baller.
Until next time!
