Bring Back the Pear-Shaped Amazon
I love the show Alias. I started watching it my senior year when I was supposed to be writing my honors thesis, and I’ve been hooked ever since. My sister Rachel (myskiesareblue) is also a big fan.
Season Five is looking like it won’t live up to the previous four seasons of the show due to a mishandling of Jennifer Garner’s pregnancy. ramdonomo, from my Alias fan community, posted this hilarious article from MSN critiquing J.J. Abrams handling of the pregnant Garner’s character.
One of my favorite lines:
"Abrams has sold out his nervy spy and replaced her with Syd the "Stepford Wife," a nodding, smiling, barefoot, bobble-headed, lobotomized replicant with cabbage patch dimples and soft, supple hands deigned acceptable for cradling her waxing belly. And not much else. What a waste. The possibilities for a knocked up Sydney Bristow . . . [s]he could use her pregnant belly to pose as a 14-year-old Fundamentalist Mormon girl*, sidle past Covenant operatives and then waste the enemy with one of those collapsible guns that double as cuticle clippers."
