School stuffems...

I am taking the GRE tomorrow morning. -_-" I will be graduating this May with a BA in applied anthropology and am currently filling out apps for grad school. My choices:

1st - NC State. They have an AWESOME forensic program and the head of the anth grad program IS a forensic anthropologist and she specializes in human rights... which is exactly what I want to do! Also, she has published extensively with Douglas Ubelaker who is one of the biggest names in mass grave excavation and genocide. Also, Also, she knows virtually everyone that works at JPAAC in Hawaii... which is where I would LOVE to intern and work!

2nd - University of Florida - Gainsville. They have the Pound institute which was started by Dr. Maples, one of the founding fathers of f. anth. They have a VERY competitive PhD program.

3rd - University of Tennessee - Knoxville. HELLO!!!! BODY FARM!!!!!

4th - Boston University School of Medicine. This would be higher on my list, BUT since it's a private college, the tuition is CRAZY and the grad students get zero funding other than what they can drum on their own... also, the cost of living there is really high.

5th - Mercy Hurst in Erie, PA. Again, a private college, but they have funding for grad students and a great forensic program. Both of the f. anth professors are board certified... there have only been 90 board certified forensic anthropologists ever.

6th - UNC - Charlotte. This is my fallback school. There is no forensic program, but there is an applied emphasis which would allow me to actually find work AS and anthropologist while I train in forensics on the side.

AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! So many decisions and HOLY CRAP is it expensive to apply to grad schools! It was $160 for the GRE... then it will be $15-20 per school to send my scores AND each school has a non-refundable application fee. -_-"

My head (and pocket book) hurt. :(

BUT YEAH GRAD SCHOOL!!!! now I just need to get accepted.
