24 says that it's in real time, but you know what? They're really playing fast and loose with the idea. For instance,
Jack Bauer et al somehow moved from an airport hanger to CTU in two minutes, a fact obscured by the week in between 21:00:00 and 21:00:01. Also, Jack Bauer is probably the most personally terrifying human being in history, because of the apparent joy he takes in doling out unrealistically effective
torture (unrealistic in its generation of information, not in terms of whether it would be torturous), a joy which makes it really hard to believe people are in love with him. I'm just saying, he's not nearly as pleasant as
Athos, and even there
Milady d'Winter clearly knew
Athos wasn't a man to fall in love with. She was also much, much cooler than
Audrey Raines.
That aside, I'm enjoying the season over all. It is most thrilling in a hyperbolic, over the top way, and I always love when a character says that there are ten or fifteen minutes before such a thing happens. It's one of the greatest running themes of the show, which reinforces the original premise of a show which tells its story in pseudo-real-time.
I'm trying a new thing where I draw a tarot card at the start of a day and see if it applies to the day I have. Today, it was the
Knight of Pentacles. I don't know that I was especially hard working today, although my work-out was indeed grinding by any reasonable standards.Maybe tomorrows will be more applicable.
I've been making some serious Baldur's Gate progress lately. In a couple weeks, I think I'll have it beat, which will be good times because after that... Baldur's Gate II.
You dance with who they tell you to.
