Stepping out boldly one put out his hand...

He said, "I was just a child then, now I'm only...a man."

Anyway, so a few things. First, everyone look at my current avatar. This little guy I drew some weeks before school was out and I never really had a use for him. Until now!!! See I had this one game going with these eight people and I'm not going to put the boring details down here because they are in fact boring. The reason I haven't completed that game, or really done much more than drawings for the playable characters is that I never thought up an applicable fighting system which would lead to the equipment and ability systems. I had the story, was working out the map and locations, but never knew how the battles or weapons would work. So I put it back because I like to have a good idea about everything possible before I start a project. Long story short, I've come up with a new battle system that I'm particularly fond of because it's actually somewhat original this time. Or at least it's getting there. Slowly. It's a little similar to FF7 with materia orbs handling abilities and magic and crap, but I'm throwing in universal weapons and (semi-) universal armor as well as job/class trees and it's not too bad so far. Still trying to get back to the point, that little guy came back to my mind as I was thinking back about older ideas and he's inspired a main character. I've got ideas for three or four more and want to wind up with about eight or so playables in the end. This is sort of a bad picture of him since I had to edit it from a screen shot, but he looks a little better in his own element. I'm also thinking of taking away the goatee, in case you could tell that there was one, because the character I'm imagining needs to look a little younger and I could see the one in my head being the one on the screen but that's because I "know" the character already and it's harder to get across a young character if you leave facial hair. Eh.

So here's something. When Yankee Doddle came to town a ridin' on his pony, sticking a feather in his cap and calling it macaroni, what is he referring to? Is he calling his horse macaroni? His feather? His cap? When is this elusive "it"?
Speaking of songs that don't make sense, I know the whole world was part of her dream so it could conceivably happen, but when Dorothy's being serenaded by the Scarecrow and he sings about, "With the thoughts I'd be thinkin' I could be another Lincoln," how does he know who Lincoln is? And in "Can't Get a Man with a Gun," Annie Oakley sings, "I'm cool, brave and daring to see a lion glaring when I'm out with my Remington..." Right, so when has she ever been hunting a lion? She lives in Ohio and has her entire life. Does she shoot the lions in a zoo or something? C'mon people.
Anyway, back to me and awesomeness. As per that last post, I wasn't angry or anything. I sounded a little heated in the middle, but it wasn't like someone had touched a nerve or gotten me really mad. I just needed something to talk about and that's been one of the ones on my mind. And thanks The Wife, good call.
So tomorrow I get to spend the better part of the day at the Holly, but that is only the intro since we have the same Annie rehearsal Sunday until six again except that after that is a Pippin rehearsal until nine. Woot. Almost makes me wish I could just work all the time and skip the weekends. Speaking of work, today was ridiculously hot. No one should've been working outside today. So for a little change of scenery we got to work inside a house. A sweltering hot, terrible smelling, flea infested and dirtier than home-made sin house. And yeah, we were cleaning that dadgum mess so that next week, we can take out all that god-less carpet and install some new stuff. Such job satisfaction. Almost makes me wish I could just stay at the Holly all the time and skip the weekdays...

I had an idea for the first album of "my band." The album would be named something to do with the Tree of Life or the Merkaba. There would be 11 songs after the 11 spheres of the Kabala (technically there are only 10 Sephiroth [central spheres] with Daath [death] as a sort of disconnected sphere, therefore, the song corresponding to Daath would be a "hidden track") and each song would represent its respective sphere as far as the message goes. I think it's a good idea because the spheres are symbolic of ideas about life that are worth singing about such as: God, power/authority, love, intellect, memory, death, and random thought. It's the whole central concept/unity/theme thing that gets me. I don't know, I'm one of those people that listen to the Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, Lateralus, the Fragile, Quidam, things like that all at one time (the album itself, not all the ones I listed) because the songs lead into one another and I'm entranced by the flowing nature of the music. That's why I'd want a central theme to the album because too many bands (in my opinion, imagine finding that in my own journal) just throw random songs onto their albums and when they've come up with enough music to fill up x amount of time, they call it an album, make a funky cover and insert and call it a day. Just not a fan.

That's honestly all I have for now, gonna work on getting the new characters in my head onto the computer so Steph can see them because that's when they start to go from basic characters with slight personalities to fully developed and historied beings. I can make history a verb if I want because, like I say, this is my journal, not yours. The end.
