Necrotek - None More Black (Digital EP Vendetta Music)

Necrotek is a band that has already gained some reputation by contributions to famous dark electro compilations like "Endzeit Bunkertracks" and "Interbreeding" but also due to their excellent debut album "Menschenfeind" released on Vendetta Music. "None More Black" marks some evolution in sound. Compared to Skinny Puppy it might have influenced the band to personalize their sound now moving to a mix of EBM and dark electronics. The title song perfectly illustrates the merge and the efforts in sound. The vocals remain quite hard and distorted, but this is the kind of stereotype requested here. "Alles Ist Nacht" coming next is another and more explicit move into sound. We here get a more minimal approach in the writing, but which is original and efficient! EBM and dark electronics are in perfect balance. This song has been sung in German bringing a little diversity in the vocal parts. The two last cuts are the most surprising and I dare to say unexpected ones. "Shadow Phase" sounds quite down tempo-like while filled with terrific sound treatments. "Decline And Fall" is definitely the biggest surprise here (although not my favourite cut) for reminding me to sequences of early Revolting Cocks. A diversified release for a band showing an interesting progression! (DP:7)DP.
