It was nice to be able to go outside again and not end up soaking wet and irritated. It was nice to be able to hit the boardwalk and ride his skateboard for hours on end, working up a good sweat despite the mild temperatures. It was nice to really break in his new board so he could take it back to Seattle and show Ramon that he wasn't just out

"Want some help with that?" K-Mart called as she approached her cabin. Menudo? Seriously? How had she gotten that cabin?

Oh, right, universe had a sense of humor.

Sam had a piece of gauze pressed against one elbow while the other one stung painfully every time the breeze blew too hard. He glanced up at someone he thought he'd seen inside his cabin but couldn't really be sure.

"It's kinda messy," Sam pointed out because, well, blood and dirt and who knew what else. It had been a pretty bad spill. "I wouldn't wanna be responsible for someone having to do laundry."

"Meh." K-Mart waved a hand dismissively. "I can deal with a little mess. 'sides, I'm used to having to clean dirty clothes."

Only they'd never come out quite clean before, back home.

Sam considered her offer before eventually shaking his head. "Nah, I think I got it. It's just a little road rash. It's definitely not the first time and it definitely won't be the last. Thanks for the offer, though. If I ever have to amputate, I'll let you know so you can get in on the mess."
