NaNo character profile - Rozan
So here's the second of my NaNo characters, and the main one - Roz, my creepy little necromancer.
So that's Roz. The two pictures on the right, that's pretty much how I imagined him, except... tired. Very tired looking. Dark circles, weary eyes. Also, something is off about that doll's mouth, which is why that tiny picture at the bottom is there - that's more of how I picture Roz's mouth, I guess. He's got longer hair, which is why the blue background pics are there. The bottom left two pictures are, obviously, his clothes - top and bottom, of course.
So Roz is a necromancer, but he doesn't know what exactly he is. He gets upset, and dead things start moving. The stronger the emotion - fear, anger, any sort of negative emotion - the more obvious the effects are. Mild irritation leads to little things, like cooking fish wiggling around or roadkill shifting around; stronger things (like fear for his life) lead to full blown decaying bodies pulling themselves out of the ground. Generally they go after whatever the source of the emotion is - whatever's frightened/angered/etc Roz - but if there are still people around after they finish, they'll turn on those next. Also, Roz has no idea how to put them back in the ground - they just show up and he gets out of there before anything can get him.
He can see and hear things, too. Ghosts like to come and harrass him, just because he can see them. Sometimes it's just ghosts in general trying to mess with him, other times it's leftover energy from especially traumatic deaths. The leftover energies just sort of play in a loop, over and over. They're disturbing, but I think Roz's more bothered by the ones that mess with him - they pretend to be regular humans, and then they wait til they're near by and lunge at him. Ghosts can't physically touch anyone, so they go right through him, but it still scares the bejesus out of him.
Roz has some eccentricities of his own. He won't touch people, and hates it when they touch him - after a while Tahmik can get away with it without Roz freaking out, but he continues to visibly wince. He also won't sleep on bare ground if he can help it - he worries about things trying to grab him, and for good reason.
Roz is short for Rozan, and Tahmik's the only one to call him that. Necromancy is a type of inhereted magic, and he's got it through his mother's side, but - since magic's been fading out in their world - it's been a number of generations since anyone in his family's had it. As a little child, he could see and hear things, and he seemed like a disturbed child. His parents were unsettled by him, and it just continued to get worse as he got big enough to try to tell his parents what he was seeing. They kept him in the house, constantly, and his father started to treat him worse and worse. His mother didn't know what was going on, but she'd heard stories about the things her family used to be able to do - but she never spoke up about it, figuring that it was just a story and so she let Roz's father keep getting worse in his treatment.
Finally, one day Roz had enough and he snapped. As usual, get him upset enough and reanimated things go after the source - this was no exception, and they went after his family. He managed to get away, but he has no idea what's happened to them - whether the zombies tore them apart or whether they managed to get away too, and honestly, he doesn't particularly care.
Roz wonders around from place to place, pretty much homeless. Tahmik meets him for the first time in an alley. Something ends up happening that Tahmik decides to go with Roz, and he continues to look out for him. Roz isn't much of a fighter until he starts to get the hang of raising things intentionally. Once he gets the hang of it, it makes him the nuker, as well as a squishy wizard character. Part of the main plot is Roz finding out that someone can give him more information about what he is and what he can do, and he finds out that there's somewhere he could go to learn how to more ably use his magic, if he wants to.
Last up is Tahmik, but his might take longer. I don't have any images for him, really.
