Joseph watched the scene that played before his eyes passively. The computer terminal he had accidently stumbled across in the Dyson Sphere had unbelievable range. From here he could see anywhere not only around the Sphere itself but also as far away as Earth. It was with this machine that he saw Kira, heard her words.
When she had fallen asleep he turned off the monitor. Slowly he continued his journey in thought. He didn't want to be the cause of her pain, to hurt her any further. But he didn't know what to do. Leaving her would hurt her. Staying with her seemed to hurt her. It was a lose lose situation.
So he did what he had set out to do from the beginning. Find her a ring. A ring in the center of the Sphere. A ring that blazed like the sun. Then he would know what to do, then the answers would come to him.
His feet echoed on the metallic floor as he followed the path of the water disposal system. He could track it from the corridors, so he let it lead him to the inner surface where, he reasoned, the center could be seen. Doorway after doorway he passed, machine after machine, all the while thinking of the woman he loved and how he could make her understand what she meant to him. How he truly did need her.
As he came to what he calculated was the final door he paused. He steeled himself for what lay beyond for a long moment and then pressed the access codes into the control panel. The door slid open silently and he walked out, feeling the warmth of the sun above him.
He looked upwards and gaped in amazement. The inside of the Dyson Sphere spread out, surrounding the sun that lay millions of miles in its center. But this was no ordinary sun. It was a star unlike any he had ever seen or even ever thought to see before. Instead of being a sphere, it was hoop shaped, thousands of miles across, it blazed with energy. This sun was shaped like a ring. Kira's ring, he thought as he dropped to his knees, weeping as what he had found brought the feelings he had for her rushing to the surface.
Elsewhere a seer smiled sadly at the sight, murmuring to herself 'I hope that you have found what you were seeking, dear Joseph.'
