Cottage!
Well we've moved in... sorta.
Yesterday I did a few hours work at work while R carried on getting things ready to get in the car and run. At about 12:45 pm after some delays we left along the multimap recomended route to get to our new house. Unfortuantly Multimap does not get informed by the Highways agency where road works are which is a shame as such we were about 5 mins late to the appointment to sign along the dotted line and hand over a fair amount of money.
Roadworks. What constitutes roadworks. on the A66 from the A1(M) to the M6 there were several bits of roadworks where all they had done for many miles at a stretch was put traffic cones on the verge at the side of the road. Not in the middle, not reducing the size of the road, in fact in no way effecting driving conditions at all. But the people managing that section of roadworks in their infinite wisdom decided that they'd reduce the speed limit by 20 mph. Also we passed 20+ warning signs about speed cammeras and didn't pass a single one (R says that we passed a place where they were putting one up but it wasn't up yet) These days when I see the warning signs about speed cammeras I just keep an eye out for them and don't bother slowing down. If I see one then I'll slow down.
Unfortuantly the office we went to was the wrong office of the correct estate agent (the one we went to didn't deal with rentals and it took us an hour and twenty to get to the right one due to getting lost)
After that it was relitively plain sailing. We got the keys, got to the property, had a look around and went through the inventory with a fine tooth comb. then I moved stuff from the car to the house and R put it away. She made the beds and I put one of the computer chairs back together.
We are now the proud renters of a 2 bed cottage that is not quite as small as I remember it being (which is good) but I still bump my head going into and out of some doors and have to watch the light fittings. I suspect R will post the address when she gets an internet connection sometime around the 6th or so of september.
Now I go for holiday!
