Cap & Bucky hit the theatres (and LJ downgrade ate my CapBucky icon DAMNIT ç__ç)

My plans to go watch Captain America the day it came out on theatres has been thwarted by (of all things...!) a bus strike. BUT! Today,indra_pavamana  and I braved the heat, the crowds, the traffic, all the troubles destiny flung at us (Wanda, we know it was you. I still insist you have no reason to be angry at me, Tommy's fate in the fic is hardly my fault!), and WE WENT TO SEE THE MOVIE.
That can I say? I liked it.

As with the others comic flicks, it's too speedy. It packs too lengthy at story in a measly two-hours, but that's how translating something into a movie works, and I've long learned to make pace with it. Besides, there is nothing wrong with the movie's length, or pace. I just wish there was more in-depth, more details, more feelings, more... more. But can't pack 70 years of comics in two hours and put everything in. XD

On thing I was afraid of, was that Chris Evan's Steve wouldn't be... Steve enough. But he is. As always, I think half of the credit goes to the *marvellous* voice actors we have here; but throughout the movie, Steve remains the "Brooklyn boy", the "good man" Dr Erskin choose.
On the down-side, there wasn't enough Bucky onscreen time, to my liking. Then again, being a Bucky-fan, two whole hours of Bucky-and-Steve antics and goodness would probably not have been enough. *chuckles* While we are on this topic, I must confess I don't mind Sebastian in the role. I wasn't' sure how I'd react to him, to be honest. I was as likely to swoon only on the grounds that he's playing Bucky, and be disappointed because he's... not Bucky. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I liked him in the role for how he played it. He's a good compromise between

and

He's got an almost childish appeal, and at the same time, something a trifle darker. I heard the director chose him exactly because he looked like he could one day be the Winder Solider (which makes me HOPE for things impossible, such as WS being in Avengers, and/or the Cap America 2 movie the producers were dreaming to make). However, you don't get to enjoy Bucky. His humour, his quirks, his bravery. It's hinted at, yeah, as is his unquestionable loyalty to Steve (not Cap, STEVE). Again, this might be the fan talking, but I couldn't help wishing we had got more. The glimpses on his and Steve's shared childhood though, are tantalizing.
Which brings me to another hot topic. The slash. I enjoy this pairing. Oh, shut up, I SHIP  IT LIKE WOAH. And I'd prepared myself for witnessing nothing that could be even remotely considered shippy.
Dear Lord, I was wrong.
indra_pavamana's not even into this ship, and she squealed as much as I did. True, there's just a sprinkling; that perfect, if utterly small, amount of subsubsubsubtext to satisfy a slashy fan and not bother a slash hater in the least. Asdfghjkl that hand on Bucky's cheek...just to mention something sweet and small and totally not spoilering
One complain I have is---the ending. We all know how a Captain America movie had to end, for the to use Steve in the upcoming Avengers movie. And I must admit, the played on the not-surprise really well, starting the movie with the end, opening with what happens in our time, after youknowhat happened back in WWII. They even had a rather witty sequence towards the end, linking back to the opening with the use of a repeated camera placement and all. But the final moments of the movie are--- confusing for the non-fans, I feel. IT's as if they lack something, and the abrupt end feels unjustified. I loved how they portrayed Peggy in the movie, and while I really felt for her during the airplane sequence, I felt nothing during the last scene. Which is a shame. :/

As I mentioned above, though, this is quite the entertaining movie. I can't wait for the Avengers to be out come May. ♥
