I came online to post something else ALTOGETHER, but I stumbled upon the eyecandy posted byjaiden_s  , and got completely sidetracked.
Completely, I tell you. COMPLETELY. *shakes head* I watched the pic Jay posted, and keep seeing Zero, instead than Taylor Kitsch. Zero, naked, wet, despairing. It goes without saying I had to do something about it. *nods

as for what he's thinking... it depends on "when" this is happening. If he's really still in Skull Castle, he's probably angsting because he realize his father is that cause of the war, etc. If it's during the games... well, it depends. This might be a scene right after the 5th war, when Zero is mortally wounded, and strives to heal himself and go back to his X, even though he knows he might be a danger to him.

...as soon as I read the words "companion piece" I got this mental image of X leaning against the same wall, also in the rain, but leaning with his chest against it, instead then his back... in such a pose that it would complete Zero's. He'd be draped as though he was leaning against Zero, even if he's isn't there. That's make it so that, if we were to put the two sketches together, or one above the other, they'd fit perfectly together, and look like they were embracing...
