"She's sixteen, Don. Six. Teen." Amanda gave her brother a rather sarcastic look from across the room. "Do you seriously think that she can handle this? That YOU can?"
"'Manda, PLEASE, we can do this, I swear!" Donny leaned against his dresser, still looking at the paperwork in his hand. Amanda scoffed from her spot by the lamp, crossing her arms. "...I know we can. She loves me-"
"Which is something you should not only be thankful for, but repay."
"-And I know she'll love the kid twice as much." Don shrugged his shoulders. "And, you know, I thought maybe we could... go somewhere."
"'Go somewhere'? Where do you think you can go, Donny? You can't run from this!"
"I meant for us to live- All three of us."
There was a moment of silence then. The room was still as Amanda gave Don a quizzical look. "So... are you sure? That it's going to happen, I mean?"
"Yeah... she took two tests, then she even went to the clinic... it's happening."
"How did she feel?"
"...Scared. But excited. I don't think she thinks it's such a bad thing."
Again, the conversation pause for a beat.
Don sat down, sighing and rubbing his head. "I need a drink."
"Isn't that how this all started?"
Don glared at his sister and then at the ground.
"Hey..." Amanda took a step and sat down with her brother on the bed. "Hey. Sorry. I can't help it." She put a reassuring hand on Don's shoulder. "So... where were you planning on taking her?"
"I was thinking... Montreal. I think I'd like to raise a kid there."
