Obligatory Loot Listing:
*Blind Guardian's "Night at the Opera" CD (Fucking metal)
*Ben Fold's Five "Rocking the Suburbs" CD (Just like Michael Jackson did)
*Complete Narnia collection, in the form of one big honking book (<3)
*The first three Foundation books, by Isaac Asimov (SCIENCE!)
*Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu DVD (The sequel where the science has been editted out for the most part)
*Full Metal Alchemist DVD (I should have asked for a Full Metal Jacket DVD as well, come to think of it, just to continue the theme)
*Half Life 1 Anthology (I was sitting under a rock when this came out, and I've been meaning to play this for a while)
*20 bucks from my grandma
To be honest, I was surprised I got this much, since my parents warned us that we wouldn't get much this year. I'm not complaining, though.
The stuff I got for others:
*Deep fat fryer (plus boiler, plus blancher, plus a bunch of other cooking terms) for my dad (it's a gift for the whole family!)
*Two carved wooden candlestick holders as a joint present with me, my mom, and my sister, also for my dad (his birthday is on the 27th)
*Some weightloss book by some weightloss guru for my mom (the only reason I got it was because she really wanted it. Bleh)
*A DVD with some old mystery movies, for my mom (her birthday was on the 22nd)
*A stuffed penguin and a box of fudge, for my sister
*A bottle of Grey Goose vodka for my sister (who's 21st birthday was on the 20th...are you sensing a trend, here? Also, for those curious, my mom was the one who did the actual buying, and I made up for it)
*A new PS2 controller (bright green!) and a thing of cookies for my brother (who breaks the trend by being born in October)
Other things that went down:
*Went to Midnight Mass with my mom. While I don't consider myself Catholic anymore, it makes her happier than she likes to admit (usually) when I go to church with her. I figure going once or twice a year isn't going to kil me.
*Sleeping in, since presents were opened on Christmas Eve. Oh, it's been so long since I've been able to sleep in. It was beautiful.
*Christmas dinner! Oh man, it was delicious. Roast, yorkshire pudding, mashed taters, those green beans with the bacon and the mushrooms, and gravy. Lots of gravy. This Christmas was the Christmas of gravy.
Not to mention the baked alaska my dad makes for dessert every year. It did not break the trend of tasty things.
*No family blowups or drama at all. Huzzah!
*Movie watching. My dad got Serenity and Brothers Grimm DVDs from my brother, so we watched those last night before church goings. Serenity was just as awesome as it was when I saw it in theater. I didn't finish Brothers Grimm, though It was interesting in parts, but really drug on. And of course, today we watched A Christmas Story, as is yearly tradition.
All in all, this year was pretty groovy.
