i should be sleeping
the job: i worked 8:30 to 5:30 on friday, 10 to 4:30 on saturday and i'll probably be working 8:30 to ?? tomorrow. $_$
i was asked if i could come in all week... and they're looking for someone to work there permanently. iris said she'll be watching me to see how i do with everything they throw at me. so far... ok. friday i earned points for answering the phone in a professional enough manner to impress the owner and her husband when they called, and by fixing the complicated copy machine/printer for the owner's daughter, melissa, when the paper jammed and she couldn't locate the leverbutton thingy to open the affected area. (the best thing about friday was melissa on the phone telling an unpardonably rude woman, as civilly as she could muster, to shove it. it was vicariously gratifying.) saturday i spent hours stapling, folding, stuffing, stamping, labeling, and sorting hundreds of letters to go out to one of the properties they manage, and i didn't have to answer the phone. (: i was sorting and labeling at the same time as making coupons so that might be why i messed up the first 8 coupons. i worked through lunch (while shoving my sandwich in my face) to make up for it. i wasn't the only one having trouble that day so i didn't look too bad, i hope. i think i'm harder on myself than they would be. so yeah. the place is only 10-15 minutes away from home. i've been getting rides from sandy. i need to find out if a bus goes by there.
i've never worked in a place with all women. it's kind of nice and kind of weird. it's also weird that they're all puerto rican... *shrug* it's pretty laid back there, especially for an office, but everyone works very hard.
today: little jack ran off again this morning but i had been paying enough attention that he couldn't have been running around long. mom and i caught him pretty quickly. (he was investigating a mailbox a couple of blocks away when we found him.) we've now covered his escape routes with boards. we'll see what he comes up with next. i don't want to have to stand out there with him every time he goes outside. bugs like biting me too much for that.
after that mom and i made open-faced tuna melts on english muffins for lunch. haven't had them in awhile. they were goood. then the a/c broke and we've been trying to find ways to stay cool since. no repair man until someone can be home when they get here.
my accomplishments for the day were: bathing jack, cleaning his ears *eew*, and locating Finding Neverland for colin to watch sometime. other than that i didn't do much of anything. i didn't even work on my stuff for the swaps. maybe i'll do that tomorrow if i'm not too exhausted when i get home from working.mom found adrian's old kiddie-sized superman cape. i spent quite awhile following jack around while it was attached to his collar, trying to get a good picture of him as Superjack. no luck.
oh yeah, rose called me at about 8:30pm to say hi and tell me about how chris is doing (she's sending him a care package because she remembered that jeni sent me one when i was feeling down) and her plans to come visit in april-ish, etc. (: must remember to call her next weekend.
also, i'm glad to know jeni is ok and her job is goodish. i hope her power didn't go out again. that would suck.
alright, i'll make another attempt at sleeping now.
p.s.- darn people, putting pictures of their cute toddlers online where i can see them! i'm getting the 'aaaw-i-want-one's. BAH! i don't need that! (i get it whenever i see a pregnant lady happily walking around with her SO too. double BAH!)
