"and Islamic literature" and "The nature of the Islamic material he allegedly was carrying also was unclear." Does NOT mean the person was a Muslim. I carry around Islamic literature every Tuesday and Thursday this semester, doesn't mean I'm a Muslim.
"The suspect spoke broken German and appeared to ramble during an initial interrogation, Edelbacher said." Much of Austria is inhabited by Germans, or those who are Austrian with a significant German heritage. German does not equal Muslim, either. Nor does it equal Nazi or anything else. It's like saying "Oh, she's American" big deal.
"It was unclear how far he made it into the embassy." So, what exactly does it mean when it's state that there was an attack, if we don't know how far into the Embassy the person made it?
"Embassy officials could not immediately be reached for comment" So who is giving the reporter any information? It certainly isn't an Embassy Official.
"Last month, authorities arrested three people - all Austrian citizens of Arab origin in their 20s - in connection with a video posted online in March that had threatened Austria and Germany with attacks if they did not withdraw their military personnel from Afghanistan" Yeah, this matters a whole lot, considering the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA's embassy was attacked.
"One of the suspects was released several days later for lack of evidence." Even more reason to be suspicious of the paragraph before it.

Congradulations you found my biased that I purposely inserted. This is a common theme in today's media. I am just working on my resume.
Unclear can just mean the write could not find out. I am sure if he went through a metal detector is was in the building. When I visited the Embassy in Bahrain the metal detectors were in the building and that was when we were gearing up for war.
That does matter because inside embassies you will find civilians who are trying to get to the U.S. on visas and the such. They would be a good target for a terrorist because why would you be trying to get to America legally if you didn't want to?
