Yuletide fic done, beta read and uploaded. Huzzah!
We are now officially festive at home. P arrived back from work with a Christmas tree and we were all treated to the annual performance of him struggling to screw the stand into the bottom of it, punctuated with the occasional "I hate bloody Christmas." (apparently you can get black Santa hats with "Bah Humbug" on them. I should get him one. *g*)
The tree is slightly shorter than we would have liked but it is very bushy and smells good. The children are allowed to choose a new decoration each year and the tree has developed an "interesting" look. H's ornaments are all angels of varying tackiness while Small Boy's are a peculiar mix, dominated slightly by reindeer.
Despite his Scrooge-like grumbling, P hung tinsel over each child's doorway and busied himself with wrapping strings of beads around the bannisters.
All presents are now bought and I just have the wrapping to finish. I treated myself to a huge Christmas compilation from Amazon and despite the lack of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)", it's not bad. There is no need for Robson Greene singing "I believe" (yes those of you who have only ever seen him in "Wire in the Blood" - he has a secret past as a cringe inducing popstar) and "Little Drummer Boy" is not Johnny Cash's finest moment. However I will seek out Bruce Springsteen's version of Santa Claus is coming to town and all shall be well!
