More on Patoka

Dec 24, 2009 11:11

Just a quick note to keep you all updated. The deadline for bidding on Patoka came and went without me bidding on it. I was still completely on the fence about it at the time, and just didn't bid. Well, the following Monday, it was posted that nobody at all bid on it. Nobody. It was posted in most of Indiana, most of Kentucky, and some of Illinois. And nobody bid. Normally, the bid would go down and if someone at that post office was eager to have a regular carrier on it, then it would be re-posted in a month or so.

Now, I don't really believe in signs, or omens, or anything silly like that, but I was really kicking myself for not bidding, once I found that nobody wanted it. I called the lady that handles the bidding and asked her to extend the bid process by a week. And she did. As of this morning, I have officially bid on the route in Patoka. The extension ended today, and I waited until today to bid. All week, there's been a little more buzz in the office about the route since nobody bid on it. I know for a fact that nobody else in Louisville bid on the route, but I'd say it's 50/50 whether I'll get it or not. The results should be about a week. I'll let you all know when I know.
