um, no. the apostrophe is being used in this case to indicate possession. the cheese belongs to Vermont. maybe you should retake third grade?

I dont like using "its" for possession. the rules of possession dictate that an apostrophe be used. I know it's widely accepted that certain pronouns(including 'it') drop the apostrophe for whatever UNKNOWN reason, and this is often considered 'correct'(again, for an unspecified reason), but...I don't.

dude, it's not "widely accepted;" it's a friggin grammar rule. it's not like it's something you can debate. it's like arguing that 'your' should have an apostrophe cause it's possessive.

actually, now that i think about it...no possessive pronouns have apostrophes. dumbass.

and, I know that. I also said it. There's no need for name-calling.

being a grammar rule doesnt make it widely accepted? I think it does. and 'your' is not at all the same, because it doesnt end in an 's'.

"widely accepted" implies that most people do it, but it's not official. this is a grammar law, man.

and 'his' ends in an s. there's no apostrophe in that one.

and if it's official, then it's fair to say that it's widely accepted. laws are widely accepted as being the law. I'm not accepting this one in this case.

and, yes, I know. 'his' is a pronoun. if you want to list them all, go ahead. But I already know them, you'd be wasting your time.

I am an English major, so I shall end this:

She's right about your use of it's/its.

While IT'S confusing (I admit some grammar even throws me for a bit), your use was incorrect. Good thing that you didn't bet any money on it.

And before you say it, I threw your mom around for a bit last night...in bed.
