Yesterday was a little but of a surprise, Anna was not technically due for another 3 weeks.
If you have no interest in reading other people baby stories, here are some pictures of cats.
http://icanhascheezburger.com/ We spent the day in Cambridge see family then drove back down. All day anna had been complaining of feeling like she really needed the loo but nothing happened when she was there.
When we got home I finally badgered her in to packing the baby bag that should have been packed ages ago.
Just after 10 she went to loo yet again and felt a little odd and noticed a small amount of blood. A quick call to the midwives and we were told to come in to get checked up. Anna was hooked up to the monitors and then asked how long ago her waters had broken. We thought this was a bit of language barrier issue with the nurse, and we kept try to explain that she was here for a check up. With huge amounts of pointing and vast amounts of patients for stupid parents she finally got us to understand that the machine was showing Annas contractions had started at 4 mins apart and were now down to 3 and we were going to have the baby now.
This was followed by the panic of the young doctor not hooking up the monitor correctly so when anna moved it stopped doing baby's heart beat and got annas instead (changing from the babys 150-160bpm to annas 80-100bpm). Making him think that the baby was in distress get ready to have an emergency C section arranged. Luckily after some moving of the probes he got the idea that it was just the probes being misaligned.
Around this time annas contractions had become very painful and the gas and air was no longer cutting it. So she had an epidural, the monitor continued to show she was having contractions but she could not feel them at all.
Around 3:30 the mid wives decided that as the monitor was not working properly they were going to use a different type that clips to the top of babys head. When they went to fit it discovered that anna was now fully dilated and the baby was on the way out. About 20 mins later there was baby.
