I am applying for an internship at the
Santa Fe Institute for Complexity Science. As part of my application, I need to write "A statement of your current research interests and what you intend to accomplish during your internship (suggested length one to two pages)."
My current research interests? Yikes. Megayikes! I'm not sure what to write. I decided to brainstorm:
I'm into a lot of things, but yeah... i'm spread pretty thin. That could be a disadvantage... i'm not specifically great at anything in particular. I take some comfort in this quote:
"Science would be ruined if it were to withdraw entirely into narrowly defined specialties. The rare scholars who are wanderers-by-choice are essential to the intellectual welfare of the settled disciplines."
