CW4Kids Removes Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's
In what appears to be a last minute change, the CW4Kids has removed "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's" from its Saturday morning schedule effective immediately. While a new episode was originally scheduled to air this Saturday, it has instead been replaced by an hour of the original "Yu-Gi-Oh" anime series. This isn't just a onetime thing either, as 4Kids Entertainment has revealed their Fall TV schedule, & 5D's isn't on the list at all. Here's the new season schedule beginning September 19:
7:00 Gogoriki (new episodes)
7:30 Winx Club! (season 1 continues)
8:00 Rollbots (new series)
8:30 Dinosaur King (new episodes)
9:00 Yu-Gi-Oh! (season 1 continues)
9:30 Sonic X
10:00 Sonic X
10:30 TMNT 25 Top 10 #9
11:00 Chaotic M’arrillian Invasion (new episodes)
11:30 Kamen Rider Dragon Knight (new episodes)
No 5D's in sight. Episode 48 aired last weekend & ended on a cliffhanger. The current Dark Signer story-arc goes on through episode 64, so they still had a ways to go before finishing the saga off. It should be mentioned that 5D's still being stripped on Cartoon Network though. Perhaps it'll do the same thing One Piece did on Toonami & move new episodes exclusively to CN. Perhaps even more new episodes will air exclusively online. But at least for now, there wont be any 5D's on the CW4Kids. New episodes or otherwise. This isn't the first time something like this has happened either. Last year, 4Kids removed Yu-Gi-Oh GX from all their lineups, despite the fact they hadn't gotten to season 4 yet. To this day, season 4 has yet to be dubbed or released by them.
In a related note, the CW is doing something interesting with Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. A brand new episode (#21) will be airing later today (Friday) on the CW's afternoon block, which hasn't shown children's programming since KidsWB ended it's weekday afternoon block years ago. Then on Saturday morning, another all new episode of Kamen Rider (#22) will be airing as well. So today's the only chance you'll get to see this brand new episode, though it will eventually be added to 4Kids' online video site as well. An unusual move for sure, with no explanation as to why. Just like how we're getting no explanation on the removal of Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's.
