  • For the third time in a row, Joey Chestnut beat out former champion Takeru Kobayashi in the annual 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest. Chestnut downed a record 68 dogs at the Cony Island event, 3.5 more than Kobayashi. [AP]

  • Superstar anime director Hayao Miyazaki, who's newest film Ponyo is about to hit the US, will appear at San Diego Comic-Con International, his first appearance at the show. [LA Times]
