Akira Live-Action is Dead

The long proposed live-action American adaptation of Akira has reportedly now been canceled. It seems that director Robinson decided to leave the project for unknown reasons, & since then the two films have been doomed. Bloody Disgusting explains the situation:

for the best, really. The only Hollywood adaption of anime I'm even remotely looking forward to is Cowboy Bebop, and that's because the original creators sound like they're gonna be both active and pretty strict about overlooking it.

Now, if only Fox could get it through their heads that barely breaking even with Dragon Ball Evolution does NOT warrant a sequel. -Yamato
