FanimeCon: Gainax
Anime Boston wasn't the only anime convention going on this weekend. California was hosting FanimeCon, & they had a big guest- Gainax. Several members from the anime studio were on hand to talk about the new Gurren Lagann movies & more. Studio co-founder Hiroyuki Yamaga announced that a brand new Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi special is in the works. Yamaga directed the original Abenobashi anime series back in 2002, which aired on American TV on G4 several years ago (you know, back when they still aired anime). Nothing else was really mentioned about this anticipated new special.
Besides that, Gainax also hinted at their next big project. Not much is known yet, but apparently it'll deal with free-diving, aka diving without the aid of breathing equipment. Sounds interesting, I guess. Extremely vague, but interesting.
