Congratulations to Barack Obama, who
last night won the United States Presidential Election & became the 44th President of our nation! I cannot express enough how different it is to say "I'm from a nation that elected George W Bush," than it is to say "I'm from a nation that elected Barack Obama." A sense of pride returns for the first time in 8 years.
But this is the Nebs Blog, so let's put a
Japanese twist on this piece of current news! Now that Obama is president, the Japanese city of Obama (小浜) is looking to exploit the name similarities even more than when he was running. The mayor of Obama is looking to grant the presidential elect the title of "Special Honorary Citizen." Here's the thing though, the mayor plans on doing it without asking Obama if he wants to or not. So President Obama will be a FORCED honorary citizen of the city if this gets through. Though I don't think he'd have any complaints about. Anyway, congrats again, Obama! Represent Chicago with style!
