Those guys should come to Janime XD

Whatever, it is a really serious topic. This shows the amount of signatures. (1226 signatures at one week.)
Those guys doesn't feel conformtable in the Real Life or had bad experiences with girls from the Real Life, for example.
However, they believe that the Animeworld would be better and they have right.
I hope, this petition failed, because of Mikuru-chan and because of the lack of ethics.

i never considered myself a big otaku, but being close to one i will give my thoughts.

i can understand the idea of separating yourself from the real world (i've been trying to do that for a long time with no luck) but even when separating i would personally keep myself slightly down to earth.

i don't see anything wrong with having a crush on an anime character but i wouldn't marry one.

however i can also understand the reasoning, marriage is about being with someone you love and who makes you happy, if you truly feel you can be happy this way then there shouldn't be anything to stop you.

but you should also really think about it before you reallies that the relationship can only go one way, and when you go to bed know will be lying there with you.

in conclusion, i have nothing against the idea of anime marriage, but i would really think hard before being tied down.

okay people realise these characters arnt real right?

you cant marry a work of fiction, dont get me wrong i suppose i have a crush on cetain characters as well but im always well aware that they're fictional, it's the same as if i say ichigo or zorro are cool, yes the characters are cool, but thats just it they're characters always were always will be. i dont mean to make fun of these people but come on! there are limits, marrige is meant to be a special union between 2 people, and i think you should have the right to marry whoever you want but not whatever you want. they can imagine whatever they want and have the right to without interference but thats completely different from having the law and the rest of us recognise that fantasy, i mean what would be next inanimate objects? supernatural beings? shadows? it's nice to escape reality sometimes but like i said there are limits -_-'

...legally being married to a fictional character? I'm sorry, but that is probably thee DUMBEST thing I've ever heard of. I swear I know my friends and I have tossed the idea around before...when we were inebriated

I can understand some "unofficial" record of people deciding to marry their favorite animated heroins or lolis, just so they an say they're "married" to the character. But there is no legal purpose for a person to marry a fictional character. If you marry Kagami then buy a house and die, would the house go to your fictional wife? Could you get a sweet deal on life insurance by saying you have a wife that's literally only real on paper?

Don't get me wrong, I can understand a person wanting to do it in fantasy land. But trying to get legality behind it?

Supporting the petition anonymous November 2 2008, 17:06:34 UTC
i would have to agree on with the ones who support this petition i think it would be interesting to marry a 2D character of course all the Fan-boys and Fan-girls would be pleased to see that they can marry their favorite character, however they need to take into consideration the ramifications of this if some say marries Belldandy (ah! my goddess) then that would mean that no one else would be able to marry her and that might cause a ruckus because i know i'm a belldadny fan and i'd be more then upset if someone married her so if the petition succeeds i hope that the people who started it will be smart enough to try and make it work, how do we help it out is there a place to sign our names
