Summer Wonder Festival 2008
It's that time again! Twice a year, in the summer & winter, the Wonder Festival figure convention is held in Japan. You may remember the coverage of last year's summer WonFes, as well as this year's earlier winter WonFes. This summer, the event featured a bunch of familiar anime & video game characters as glorious figurines. Without a doubt, some of the more popular titles that got figures were Code Geass, Gurren Lagann (mainly of Yoko), Fate/Stay Night, Miku Hatsune, & Magical Nanoha. But there were a bunch of figures that should be familiar to NebsTV viewers too, such as Haruhi, Luck Star, & Spice-and-Wolf. Of course there are also tons of hentai & loli figures too.
The figure featured above is my favorite of this year's Wonder Fest, no question about it. Asuka from Evangelion cosplaying as Yoko from Gurren Lagann?! OMG, DO WANT!! But to see many of the other figures the convention had to offer, check out AkibaBlog's coverage. The link below features a "best in show" type of gallery, but also contains links to several specific category galleries. Some of the figures featured here were also shown at the Winter Festival, but make no mistake that the new far outweigh the not-so-new.
