Exclamation point is actually part of the series' title, not because I'm super excited about it or anything. Anyway, in this week's episode of the FUNimation Update Quickie podcast (embedded above), Funi announced yet another new anime license. Because, you know, the
50+ titles from Anime Expo weren't enough. This time around it's "Baccano!" historical anime series. They seem to be making a habbit of announcing some titles for the first time on their podcasts, which is kind of cool & a good way to get viewers to tune in every week.
Well what's really cool about the Baccano announcement is that they already have the first subbed episode online for free. All you have to do is go the address mentioned in the podcast & type in the name of the special train featured in the series. Funi doesn't actually tell you the name of the train (jerks, huh?), but I'll let you in & tell you it's Flying Pussyfoot. =b
& in somewhat related news, FUNimation has also announced (not in this podcast, but in a press release) that they've put up the entire 11-episode series "Jyu-Oh-Sei" in subtitled format up on their website for $1.99 per ep. Funi hasn't even announced any DVD plans for this series yet, despite the fact that they announced the series as licensed
over a year ago. So the fact that they already have the whole thing subbed online is quite neat, though to be fair they did do something similar with Black Blood Brothers already. Jyu-Oh-Sei is quite an overlooked gem as far as I've been able to determine, which is quite a shame. I watched the series last year, & while it's not anything world changing, it's quite an enjoyable & interesting short series. Well now you can experience the series for yourselves!
