E3: Microsoft Press Conference

Jul 15, 2008 21:41

This is the point where 21st century technology becomes awesome. E3's being held this week, & not only is G4 providing live streams of all the press conferences on their website, but they're keeping up full archived videos of all of them as well. You can even embed them, which is what I did above. So if you you want to watch all 97 minutes of what Microsoft had to offer for the Xbox 360 this year, you got the whole thing at your disposal. Watch it in one chunk, watch it in pieces, watch it whenever it fits YOUR schedule, not when the man says it should be seen! Or if you don't want to watch the whole thing, I'll give you the rundown on what they talked about. Including some amazing Final Fantasy news that really screws Sony over.

  • Fallout 3 will have exclusive downloadable content for the 360 version.
  • Resident Evil 5 will have online co-op.
  • Netflix will start streaming movies over Xbox Live for existing customers.
  • Fable 2 has finally been completed, & will go on sale in October. Extensive gameplay footage was shown at the press conference, as can be seen in the above video.
  • The 360 will be joining both the other systems in getting user avatars. Very customizable, & is sort of in between the PS3's realistic look & the Wii's cartoonish look.
  • Infinite Undiscovery from SquareEnix will come out on September 2.
  • Rock Band 2 will be debuting exclusively on the 360 in September. A full track list is now out.
  • There's also Guitar Hero: Metallica due to come out sometime next year.
  • & finally, the really big news is that Final Fantasy XIII will be coming out on the 360 in addition to the PS3. & just like that, Sony lost another exclusive title, & a huge one at that. Microsoft's been trying to gain popularity in Japan for years now, but with this they may finally start selling their consoles over their. The trailer for FF13 can be seen below:
