Ponyo US Release Planned
Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo on a Cliff movie (who's official English name is actually "Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea") has been officially announced for US release, which makes it the fastest Miyazaki movie to ever get licensed for American theaters. Dates & casts haven't been decided yet, but it was confirmed that Frank Marshall & Kathleen Kennedy will serve as producers for the English version.
Even though you've probably never heard of either of them, the two are quite an impressive team indeed. Some of their includes such modern classics as ET, Schindler's List, Back to the Future, & Jurassic Park. Considering that the two of them actually work for Universal & Steven Spielberg, one has to wonder if Disney will actually be working on this film like they usually do for Studio Ghibli films, or if it'll actually be done by Universal instead.
